From the outside, the building looks like it's not even open for business. You have to actually stop pull over and walk up to the door to see that yes there is a gentleman in there named Pete and he does cut hair. Definitely a small shop, only one chair in the place. Pete knows most of the locals, it was a local that referred me to go there. He was business like and got the haircut done quickly with no fuss. Reasonably priced, if you need a decent haircut and you want it done right Ivan this is as good a place as any in this area. He wasn't real big on conversation, but the results stood...

This is a nice statue. The town decorates for special occasions. Today Paisano Pete had a Large Homecoming Mum hung on him. There are 4 shallow steps to climb (not sure if there is a ramp I didn't check the other side) and generous space around the statue so you don't feel like you are going to fall down the steps. It is on a pie wedge shaped corner right before Historic Fort Stockton arch. Parking is...

Photo op! Great attraction to add to your album of travels - Pete is the town mascot, and is well maintained and in an attractive little park - he gets dressed up for Christmas, so worth going back to see him even if you have already been by. Extra tip: go across the street to the Visitor Center to get a Fort Stockton souvenir pin featuring Pete! (Free - make sure you sign their guest...

I like roadrunners. I think they're pretty cool so when I found out the 2nd largest roadrunner statue in the world was a 45 minute drive from work I was on it like a roadrunner on one of those little lizards you see them chasing around. It's actually a pretty nice little place, plenty of shade from the sun and quite a pretty little roadside stop.

I like Pete simply because he is so odd and quirky. Every small town should have something like this. It harkens back to the great American roadside attractions of the post-WWII era, such as those found along Route 66 at its height. Go see Pete if you get a chance. C'mon, you know you want to.
