We really enjoyed our recent stay at this campground. It's a tiny place and was pretty much filled to capacity. The sites are close together, but there are plenty of trees and it feels like a real campground, though it is in the middle of Fort Wayne. We were in site 5, and just so you can get a feel for the layout, site 5 backs up to a huge parking lot for the Arena and Expo center. It is visible from the site, but there is a grassy rise and nice sized wooden fence between the campground and the parking lot. We found the campground itself to be very quiet, but just beyond the Expo center parking lot is a main road and there must be a hospital nearby since we heard ambulance sirens frequently through the night (we have a pop up). The second night we turned the air on in the camper and that drowned out the sirens enough for us to sleep. Possibly the sites on the other side of the campground were a little bit quieter. Also, I didn't see any other reviewers mentioning this, so maybe you can't hear them in a regular RV. The bathroom is across a road from the camp sites, but it is mostly park and campground traffic so it is not a problem walking to it. The bathrooms are exceptionally clean and nice and require a code to get in so that it is not open to the community. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would enjoy returning. The camp hosts were very friendly and the other campers were as well. It is very dog friendly with a nice dog park nearby (though you need to have papers showing that the dog's shots are up to date and it does...

Our 182nd stop brought us to Johnny Appleseed Campground for three nights in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Check-in was quick, and maneuvering our 39-foot rig into our generally level, well-shaded crushed gravel pull-through site was straightforward - the interior roads as well as a couple of sites are paved. While there are multiple water hookups per pedestal, we experienced strong water pressure – just be prepared with an extra hose if needed. The clean, generally updated bathhouse and laundry facilities are conveniently located just across a low-traffic street - as a reference, site 42 is directly across the street from the bathhouse. The bathrooms were very nice, featuring two shower stalls (one accessible) with benches and plenty of hooks with nice hot water and strong pressure. The park's location is a major plus: it's less than 10 minutes from downtown, a mile from a large shopping area, and directly across from the coliseum. We also appreciated the spacious paid dog park and the Johnny Appleseed grave, both just a short walk away. Our only minor hitch was the multiple site changes after our initial reservation, which was made 11 months prior. Overall, we rate Johnny Appleseed Campground a 4.3 out of 5 – a great value and recommend it. Connectivity (3 pm): Verizon 520 down/85.7 up; T-Mobile 405 down/17.1 up; Park WiFi 4.84 down/16.1 up; 38 over the air...

Johnny Appleseed Campground was a fun little jewel we utilized for a weekend trip to Fort Wayne. We were in town for one of our kids sports tournaments. We came away impressed and it was perfect for our needs. We booked way in advance and we were there the first weekend the park was open for the year and it was 2/3 full with other campers. It rained most of the weekend we were there, so we didn't get to do any of the fun outdoor stuff that goes along with RV camping. I wouldn't really call JAC a destination camp, other than the camp, there isn't much to do in the camp ground itself like swim or playgrounds, but there are trails and kid friendly things close by. Fort Wayne also has a lot to offer if you hit the zoo and children's science museum. If you fished, you are right across the street from the St. Joseph River. The camp is right next to the Fort Wayne Coliseum and convention center. This park would be an excellent and affordable option if you were passing through the area and needed a clean and tidy park to overnight. The bathrooms fall into the spectacular category for an RV park. They are a little walk, but a welcome surprise at how clean and modern they were. The camp hosts that were there when we stayed were excellent and...

Campers beware of the camp hosts !!! They will change your reservation to suit their friends needs ! We made reservations a year ago for spots #3 + #4, when we arrived we were told 3 different stories as to why we couldn’t have our spots that we reserved ! When we questioned them, we were told to read the rules, we did and there was nothing that pertained to our situation ! We did find rules that the camp hosts turned their back on, such as no clothes lines in the campground, see attached pictures of our neighbors. The city of Fort Wayne should look into new camp hosts !
