THIS IS NOT THE SAME CHUNG KING EXPRESS!!!! OLD OWNERS PLEASE COME BACK OR OPEN A NEW PLACE!!! Sad... I have eaten at Chung King for easily over 30 years. In my opinion, it has always been the best Chinese "fast food" takeout in town. It was always much better quality food than the 'Chinese restaurants in a box' places that you find in strip malls that all have the same pictures of the same crappy food. Chung King was always fresh and you could tell it wasn't just food from a freezer. They recently switched ownership. I hoped that the only change would be that they now take credit card (they were always cash only for years). I went to order, and the whole menu was different. My staple, Chunk King Combinaton, was not on the menu anymore. So, I looked around at the new menu, and I noticed that a lot of the offerings were the same that you find in the strip mall places. I tried the triple delight. It was not good. It's clearly not the same quality of food, and the flavor was not there. I am SO SAD that Chung King is gone, as I knew it. I'll give it one more try, at some point, but this was not even close to what I could always expect to get from Chung King for years and years. I am so disappointed that...
Read moreI made a review over a year with 5 stars, I left it below.. after over 2 years of going to this restaurant we will no longer be going back. The woman who works is rude. We went tonight and our order was wrong and we were over charged. My husband drove 10 minutes back after calling and being told to come back with the food for them to say they can't exchange the food or give a refund for the difference in the food we order vs received. Very disappointing but with the unfriendly staff, increase in prices and the decrease in quality of food we will not be back.
So sad that the below review is no longer true. This is definitely a hidden jem in Fort Wayne! This is the best Chinese restaurant we have been to in the area and the prices are so reasonable for the quality and amount of food you get. I will say just as a head up the All Day Combination plates that have noodles do not do half the entree and half the fried rice that comes with the All Day Combination plates. The guy working was very understanding when I was confused after receiving my order and gave me a side of rice which I thought was very generous! Oh and they have...
Read moreUpdate year later... They still default to the dinner (higher $) entree vs the "combo" entree. Had kung pau chicken this time. Positive... everything tasted/felt super fresh, and had decent portion (as do most Chinese restaurants). Negative, the food was bland, which is unusual for kung pao. More like stir fry with no real seasoning. I actually felt like it needed salt, which never happens at Chinese restaurants for me. They are back open inside, but lots of boxes and stuff all over the dining area. Still a 2 star for me.
New ownership since my last review. Ordered something from the previous menu, (chicken teriyaki) ended up being $13 for lunch. There are several $8.50, but they didn't mention that. Not nearly as good as previous dish. Still no dine-in, which is probably good, but they should at least allow you to order at the inside counter and carry-out. Had to stand at the drive through--ridiculous. I won't be back until they open for...
