I love Kroger’s and have shopped Kroger’s for 40 years. We just moved to the area from KY, and I’ve wanted to love my new (Coventry) Kroger’s, but I usually leave feeling frustrated. I, like many, spend a lot of time meal planning and when I come to shop Most of the time the store is out of several things I usually need. That’s frustrating. Actually 4 out of 5 times Kroger’s is out of Kroger brand creamer and Kroger brand coffee, to name a few. Today I was looking for pumpkin seeds. I know to look in the produce area, and over by the other nuts/seeds/seaweed. Couldn’t find any, so I asked an employee and he went in the back and said there wasn’t any. Thankfully, I knew to look around the corner, at a third location and found the bulk packaged raw pumpkin seeds, near the bread (not the Simple brand). You might have missed out (again) on a $5 sale. Those sales add up, especially all the times I’ve went home empty handed. And actually in regards to the coffee I end up buying other brands I am Not happy with, plus some are more expensive. A couple managers have given me free creamers before, but I seriously hate to keep asking where the product is and receiving a free brand that I don’t prefer to use. I moved here in April 2017, and it has been ongoing since then. I am grateful for the offers though.
I stop and speak with many of the employees when I shop to better learn the store and inquire about the stock. I can’t quite figure out if the buyers do not anticipate the inventory, and buy too little, or if your distribution warehouse doesn’t send you what you need. In this ever changing world these things matter. Inventory matters, especially when folks can just shop online, and get stuff delivered the same day (Shopped via Meiers’s), or two day (Amazon Prime Pantry).
Also, something our Shelbyville, KY Kroger’s had was a basket of fruit in the produce section complimentary for people (especially children). We don’t get the free cookies or sweet treats, because as a mother I appreciate any healthy option out there. This I realize is an “extra” benefit, but I would like to see it extend to this Kroger’s. Apples, bananas and cutie oranges. Your patrons will love it. Your mothers/fathers will love it, and potentially others who may have diabetes for example. They may need a pick me up while shopping. I actually took a picture of the KY Kroger’s complimentary basket of fruit and showed your produce manager. And months later, nothing. It was the fruit that was aging, but still edible.
Lastly, I write today because at the checkout my cashier apologized to me for not talking much. I asked why and she said she was not feeling well. I asked was she going to be ok. She said she was nauseous and had been vomiting and had diarrhea! I was livid, because we have just gotten over seasonal flu and two colds! I kept my cool, despite my anger. I realize she may not make much money and needed to work. That’s why I didn’t get angry with her. I was worried about the children (mine)and the elder lady behind me, who may leave with the flu. I here many people have died this year because of flu, so I wonder how many people have picked up this potential virus, because of this employee. Please keep an eye on your employees and their well-being. I immediately left and washed my hands and hoped I hadn’t breathed too much air near her. And I worried she touched all my groceries!!! This was the last thing I needed, and with my frustration I came home and wrote this review.
I love Kroger’s. You mostly carry all the brands and products I use. My husband asked did I want to shop elsewhere and I said no. I will happily change the rating of this review if some of these things can change. I spoke a few times with a couple managers, but their hands are tied, or they truly don’t care. I asked to leave a comment once, but instead I got a rain check that I can never use, because the product isn’t ever in stock. And I want to say I have shopped at all times and days of the week to try and catch restocked shelves to no avail.
Sincerely, A long...
Read moreNormally a good experience at this Kroger been coming here for 3 years , went in 8/28/2023 did a little shopping, got to the new self checkout the one that has the belt , a lady was in front of me and she had her on reusable bags , the Kroger employee that was taking care of that lane and the normal self checkout lanes went over and started bagging for this lady and was just tossing items in her bags and then just throwing them in lady’s buggy , the customer looked back at me and went over and ask the cashier to let her bag and put the items in the buggy .. well was my turn and as usual I scanned all my items first then I scanned beer , the cashier came over grunting and ask for ID , I gave her my ID and she kept trying to scan it and it wouldn’t scan so I ask just punch my birthdate in like everyone else here does and she said no it has a crack and we can’t except your ID so I replied it gets excepted every week , she said well wait , went over to another cashier and was complaining about my ID so that cashier came over and said Kroger could not except it !!! So I went to customer service and was waiting saw the 2 cashiers together and then a manger went over to them , then he came to me , I ask why can’t you take this today it’s a valid ID , he said we just can’t ,
I was about to ask him if I could go get my passport and he said if you ask another question I will physically have you removed from this store . The whole time covering his name tag with his hand !!
Of course I called corporate and they acted like normal they don’t care
I spend over 2k a month at this location and this is what customer service has came to!!

Read moreShort Version: Overcharged me for an item, took two people to figure out how to refund the difference. Even then they couldn't understand that they owed me the difference in tax between the two amounts as well (because tax is a percent of amount paid, and I had originally overpaid). Refused to listen to me and ultimately stole my money. BE CAREFUL WHEN DEALING WITH CASH AMOUNTS WITH THEM AT CUSTOMER SERVICE.
More Detail: Overcharged me for an item so I went in to get the difference refunded the following morning. I had to repeatedly tell the first customer service member that the refund would be the difference between what I paid and what the sticker said I SHOULD have paid, plus the difference in tax between those two prices. She had to go get another staff member (manager?) from the back room to do it for her. This staff member then offered me a refund of the difference in prices but refused to refund the difference in tax! I told her that I was due the tax still and she brushed it aside saying 'this is with tax, cash or credit'? The manager did not understand that tax is a percent of the purchase price, and that changing the purchase price of the item changed the tax too, resulting in a difference that I was due to have refunded to me. That tax money does not belong to you and if it's happened to me I bet you're doing it on all of your returns/refunds/adjustments. Adding theft to the pile of reasons to not shop at...
