Visited this course on 10/29 and had a group of 12. The reservations help ensure our arrival was on time and pleasant. Greeted out front at the club house and had a nice guide before our tee off. The guide gave good instructions on how to navigate the course. The course was very well kept and didnāt have a ton of traps. The course is located inner town so noise pollution from nearby busy road on the front 9 and neighborhood houses doing their weekend projects were the only preference I personally not a fan of but definitely the lesser of two evils as we didnāt have any mosquitos here!
The 4 star rating is for the clubhouse kitchen menu. We had lunch after our game and all of our lunches only came with a sandwich. Their sides were sold as al cart and for our size of party it would of been nice to have more service as it seemed our waitress was the only one assisting the front side of the clubhouse and we were thirsty. One point I started serving my own drink from the pitcher that was left near by which wasnāt the drink I originally ordered.

Weāre back and more eager than ever to experience another fabulous round here at Desert Canyon. Our gaming committee for our group had taken steps to make a reservation for our reasonably size group of 16 players. Details included 18 holes, warm up buckets, all riding. Upon our arrival 8 carts were parked ready for us. ($150 per person) Their front service looked very professional and organized. Warm welcomes prior to check-in from the front folks. While going into the pro shop I noticed a wide selection of apparel with their brand. I had to indulge myself with a brand golf ball as a repeat customer ($4.50ea). The greens were stunning and well trimmed. Driving range was for irons only which I didnāt notice the sign personally but others in my group mentioned it to me. Practice putting area had only 2 holes which were occupied. There was a small chipping area (no pins, just flag sticks) near the 1st tee box. The course in itself was 20/10 Top notch, absolutely incredible. The 1st tee box was such a rush I failed to remember to take a picture but it definitely gives that āwowā vibe. My group was the trail group as we were considerably less experienced and scheduled for 9:30am start time. Our other 3 groups played at a pace that allowed us to finished our hole at 9:32am. Our skins was a simple 2v2 best stroke of hole for the front 9. Which helped us avoid from being a stand stroke play considering our skill. By the 6 hole we are approached by the groundskeeper and had to experience a stern talking about how our pace of play is too slow and we have to play quicker. Our cart gps didnāt work or give us any insight on the scorecard the pace of play to keep per hole. Mentally Iām trying to be considerate to this old guy and get my group (includes 83 year old) to go faster. Immediately this destroyed my golf game. I was mentally focused on hustling and running to my ball like a jackass. 7 tee box I shank my shot across the desert and make it to the edge of the green. In thinking of old man grounds keeper my sole focus was to retrieve my ball as fast as I can. The cart stops in the desert. The cart stopped going reverse in the desert. For nearly 5 minutes attempting to troubleshoot and get this cart out and retrieve my ball to ākeep the paceā. However, of course the grounds keeper had hurried off to possibly give a stern talking to the group ahead of us. I eventually had to manually push the cart 15 ft from the desert up hill back onto a cart path. I strained my back doing this. It was a nightmare. We get finished with our front 9 and in our tourney had a different game match for the back 9 which was a 4-man scramble. We finished our round by 1:08pm. I told the pro shop about the poor interaction and the only response I received was āokay, Iāll talk with him.ā One of our lunches had raw ground beef in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJust follow up the previous review here. It is June 7. We are AZ residents. I booked the tee time at their website,, bc under their website, the reservation policy clearly says: ... AZ Resident discount available at check-in Must show a valid AZ State ID or AZ Drivers License ... It doesn't say anything about the discount would not be given in the summer! Even they have the line of Summer Transition on the Policy. We asked at the checkin, the Lady told us, in the summer, it is same rate. No discount! Is the Website incorrect or the lady was wrong? Deceiving is not acceptable! Several problems for summer golf there. It was 7:30am. The seat of the cart we got was so hot, hardly to sit on it, but there were so many empty carts, at lease 10 of them, sitting under the shady area! Should the cool seat cart be used first? The lady told us there were 2 bottles of cold water in the cooler on the cart when we checkin. But we found nothing in it when we got the first tee. A lie again. It was a hot day, around 100 degree, amazing that you hardly found any drinking water along the course, no cart girl neither. It seems they don't care if you get dehydrated or not. You can re-fill the water ONLY at the restaurant. I don't think I would recommend to anyone to play there in the summer! Play some other courses with honest website and customer care.
the owner's response: "A discounted AZ resident rate is only available during our peak season and that this wasn't correctly communicated online, we apologize for the misunderstanding. We only have so much space for covered cart parking and can only do so much about the sun during these warmer months. Our outside service staff would have provided you with water bottles before your round if they weren't in your cooler. We hope to see you again."
I have played at this course many, many times, was on the top of my favorite courses list. Now you apologize for the "MISUNDERSTANDING", instead of MISLEADING infor. Who would misunderstand these simple words in these line? This is absurd! 15 mins put carts in the shade would cool down the cart seat, instead of burn the customer's butt. forget about the expected drink water bottle in the cooler, Did we ask too much for drinking water jugs on the course? I think this course has to go to the top of my unfavorite courses in the valley from now. Down grading...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAwesome course! Less than stellar marshalls... Played here with a fairly large group of guys (9 golfers total, 3 groups of 3) and loved the course, it was in great shape with some spectacular views, but the marshals were on our asses the ENTIRE ROUND that we just happened to play in 4 hours and 10 minutes. Not exactly a snail's pace. Extremely disappointing because it felt like, to me, that from the minute we pulled up we were inconveniencing the whole club because we were not sprinting between shots to hit our next ones. I was in the first group to finish and we waiting by 18 green to see the rest of our friends finish and when i pulled my cart up to clubhouse after we were all done i proceeded to get bitched out by the cart staff because I took so long in bringing back my cart for them to wipe off and pull into the cart barn. EXCUSEF'ING ME Get off your high horses and let people enjoy their rounds. 4 hours and 10 minutes!!!! That is not slow at all! Won't be back because of this, 2 stars because of how much i...
