We have been coming to this (the original)Señor Taco since 2009. My husband always ordered carne asada .........until someone suggested he try the carnitas tacos, well that is his favorite now, along with a Modelo. My favorite was the fish tacos, but I asked the "main lady" what she would suggest for something different. She asked me if I ever had a shrimp quesadilla and I told her that I had never had a quesadilla...much less a shrimp one...OMG! Now I find myself craving a shrimp quesadilla at least once a week. The shrimp are GOOD shrimp, not gross little ones and there are definitely your moneys worth. It is big enough that I cut it in half and if I don't take the extra piece home, I will just eat the shrimp out of it. Almost forgot, the beans are awesome. They also have a salsa bar, you serve yourself in small containers, I think there are 4 types (including tomatillo) , carrot/jalapeno peppers, onions, limes. But the must try is the roasted ground chilis in oil, which you may have to ask for because it is seriously like liquid gold and a little hot. My suggestion is try going during "off" hours because most of the landscapers and their trucks are there at lunchtime. That is why we tend to go there between 1:30 and 4PM. They do have a drive through, we have never used that option. Do not let the "strip mall/near gas station" turn you off. This is really good, the place is busy at lunch, so do the ladies at the counter a favor and KNOW what you want BEFORE you get in line. Very casual. This is NOT like taco bell....nor do we...
Read moreI’ve been living in Fountain Hills for a year the first month I was out here I visited Señor taco. I was told great things about it from the locals and I can say the food was “OK” a year later going to both of the locations here and Fountain Hills I can say that it definitely does not live up to the hype. The food is very subpar, bland, quick, and not worth the price. I’ve had better food off off Uber Eats 10 miles away that was located in Mesa Fuego Mexican Food(Eh Guey Birria Y Tacos) both of these Mexican food places sell the same thing however definitely different prices and different quality and food and this is coming from somewhere 10 miles away, However in Fountain Hills Filiberto’s ranks higher than the Senior taco. Maybe in the past when they were first open the quality of food was really great but now I can’t see that being a possibility. I ordered one of the chicken chipotle burritos it’s extremely oily and has a whole bunch of pre-cut chicken in there and the taste was worth the price. I don’t think that their prices match the quality of food that they serve if you truly want great Mexican food. I don’t recommend Señor Taco they base their quality of food on location and accessibility. No hate on the employees they are very nice and dealing with the cards they are handed. I think maybe they need to take a look at what they’re providing for the customers at the prices that they have it...
Read moreI have to add to my review because I saw something at this location I have to share. I was there in the morning when a man who appeared to be homeless came in. He showed an advertisement of some sort to the cashier. He was obviously trying to get some free food. The cashier, Jonathan, informed him that it was not valid, but told the man to have a seat. He talked to the head cook, then brought the man a burrito, for free.
I was simply blown away. Here is a young man working very hard for probably not much more than minimum wage, yet he is compassionate enough to help someone who is struggling. I have spent time getting to know all the morning employees there, and they are all incredibly hard working and compassionate people who genuinely care about others. They are passionate about food and often let me try "experiments".
Please reward these folks for their compassion and hard work. If you see Jonathan, let him know how he's a great human.
Now here is my old review....
Great food! The employees are generally courteous and quick. The portions are generous compared to their competitors, especially for the price. The tacos are crunchy, cheesy and delicious, and the burritos are better than some I have tried at fancy restaurants. Try the California Surfer Burrito, you'll be riding the wave of burro paradise all the way to...
