This is a really cool Historical Site. There are buildings and equipment here from all over the State, mostly from the 1800s, and possibly a few from even earlier. They have lots of items on display in the various buildings that were commonplace for the time, and even a few "Odities", like the 2 Cow Skulls that had been completely encrusted by Salt, after laying on the shore of the Great Salt Lake. The Site is also a fairly well-known Paranormal Hotspot. We went there as part of a Ghost Hunt, which was really cool. I even had an odd experience. While our group was in the old Schoolhouse, I was standing in the back of the room watching the Experiments that the Group Leaders were doing, when all of a sudden, my Glow Stick Lanyard fell to the floor. I had been standing still for quite a while, and the Lanyard was right against my neck, under my hair, which was up in a Ponytail. I didn't even feel it come loose, and when I picked it up off the Floor, I could still see the creases in it from the knot that had been holding it together. I don't know if it was actually a Spirit or not, but there didn't seem to be any logical reason why it had untied and fallen off, and no-one else had any problems with their Lanyards. If you are interested in History, or Paranormal Activity/Investigations, you should definitely check...
Read moreThere is so much history in Utah and it’s not too hard to find. benson Grist Mill has been on my list for a while and part of that is of course the history and the other half curiosity because it is said to be haunted. The Mill still sits in its original location and you are allowed to go inside all three levels. It is free of charge and worth the visit. While I didn’t witness anything spooky I did get an idea of what life was like then. Lots of creepy boards and the ability to look right down into the well area. There are other building on site that are old but have been moved from other locations and rebuilt. The grounds are well kept, tours available as well as picnic tables and restrooms if needed. The Mill is said to be haunted by a little girl who drowned here as well as a man in black. Spooky and very cool to see in person. Do you...
Read moreThis old grist mill was so neat! My girls have been learning about early Americans, so we were able to talk about why water ways we're so important for travel, energy, and food. None of us had ever seen a grist mill. It would have been even better if there was a guide, but we wandered around the whole area and tried to piece together how it may have worked. The best part was the blacksmith shop. There was a volunteer who has been working to put the shop back in working order for the last 2 weeks. He graciously answered a million questions, explained countless items in the shop and was so patient and knowledgeable for our inquisitive youngsters, ages 12 and under. This visit will not soon...
