OK, so we have been to Estes before and were mildly interested in the tram, but figured it was a total tourist trap. Well - it is - BUT for a reason! We finally bit the bullet and paid the entry fee for a ride on our trip to Estes. Totally worth the price! Yes, the wait can be a little long, and yes, the trams can be a little crowded, but the tram ride itself was only a means to an end for us. The ride up and down was smooth and surprisingly quick. The views and ability to take the trails and scramble all over the rocks at the summit was the real payoff! Fantastic, and super fun. We did not go into the cafe/snack bar, so I can't review that. We spent almost an hour on the summit and had a great time! If you don't want to walk around and take advantage of the views and rock climbing, there are plenty of handicap accessible viewpoints. We didn't use the viewers that are stationed along the walkway. If you have kids, they can go crazy and run around and climb all over. There are chipmunks who are used to people, but please don't try and pet them. If you want some amazing views of the mountains and valleys around Estes Park, this is the place to go. Yes, it's pretty pricey, and yes, the trams can be a bit crowded, but it's worth it - at least it was to us. We did buy a few things at the...
Read moreGreat views once you make it to the top. I personally hated the tram ride but that's because of personal anxieties, but it for sure looked safe and the operator was friendly and I think the $14 is fair. Once you're to the top of the ride, it was nice! The gift shop at the top had unusually fair prices for touristy type items (tshirts, keychains, plush animals, etc.). Definitely got a couple things. The coffee shop/food place was good. Again, fair prices for a quick drink & snack. The people working it were fun too. You can feed the chipmunks here! There are peanuts/peanut shells everywhere and therefore, chipmunks everywhere! They come right up to you and snag it out of your hand. If you're willing to climb just a little bit, they've got incredible views. We did not try the viewer things so I can't speak to their quality. But they're only $0.25 to use. There was a bit of a wait to up and back down, but that's to be expected on a Saturday at noonish so no...
Read moreI was quite thankful to discover the Hungry Chipmunk Cafe upon reaching the destination mountain top of Estes Park Ariel Tram. They offer good food , friendly service, beautiful views and a fun Ariel Tram ride up and down the mountain. We will definitely be back when we visit Estes Park Colorado.
This was a very pleasantly welcomed discovery as my family and I ran out of time for breakfast before our Tram reservation.
**We had the chocolate croissant, blueberry scone, and the Hiker breakfast burrito (Bacon, eggs, avacado, roasted red peppers, sautéed onions, cheese), mocha latte and lemonade. Perfectly hit the spot and allowed us to stay atop the mountain enjoying the wildlife which inhabits the area. Thank you again Hungry Chipmunk Cafe!!
**Sorry, the photos are only half the burrito as I couldn’t...
