Monument Lake — Attraction in Four Corners States

Do not buy a million dollar house here that backs to the lake. The police department does nothing when there are people out at the lake after hours. People with trucks will park right up against your backyard fence even though it says, “compact parking only”, leave litter, park facing your house so you can’t even enjoy your own backyard in comfort. Best yet they’ll hit your backyard fence posts constantly and Monument police will do nothing even when it’s clearly a posted violation to park trucks and suvs there. You will have to walk out of your backyard, and ask people to stop blasting Lil Wayne through their cars audio system at 11:30 at night when you and your young kids are trying to sleep and the lake is CLOSED. Again, Monument pd does nothing about this. Worst place to live because out of town trashy lake goers ruin any peace I thought living on a lake would bring. Thanks Monument PD for absolutely no help and being completely passive when people break the lake rules and for acting as if you’re hotel receptionists asking guest to leave the pool after hours instead of doing your job, enforcing the rules, and giving tickets or citations so this isn’t a nightly/daily occurrence. Oh, and don’t get me started on the 20+ times a day where a hick has to do a burnout on the dirt gravel and rev their engine just to ruin any moment of peace that could have...

We had family from Fort Collins to Phoenix there over the 4th of July weekend. There was 8 of us that came 4 hours away. I would not recommend going here unless you don't mind the people in the cabins right next to you partying all night with everyone being very very loud along with their kids screaming out all night long and the music so loud and it went on for 24 hours non stop, for 2 full days. Talked with one of the workers regarding what was going on and they said they leave it up to the people to have respect for the neighbors? Well needless to say there was no respect. We all talked it over and decided we will never be staying at Monument Lake again. I'm sorry that we had gone through this, but you travel so far and then not get any sleep due to the cabins that are rented next to you. I have no problem with someone who wants to party but stop at a reasonable hour so other campers can get sleep and enjoy...

Overpriced and crowded! We paid $43.85 for a spot that was basically a dirt parking space with a bear-proof grill we didn’t need and a single bear-proof trash can for 8-10 tent/“parking” spaces. Arriving right before sunset, we could not find anyone to check us in. We were exhausted from hours of driving, so we decided to go on in and found a spot to park our trailer. If we had known it was going to cost that much, we would have went on down the road. Please offer that parking lot area at a more reasonable price for those campers who are traveling through and need a space for just one night. Having a trailer, we did not need the other facilities that long term campers require - showers, restrooms, electricity, restaurant, store, etc. Pretty lake, but too costly to...
