Our Royal Gorge White Water Rafting Adventure was outstanding! Reid, our guide, was experienced and awesome. He made us feel safe. We never felt scared or in danger. My boys and I were thrilled with the entire experience, from start to finish. We will definitely be back for more! I wanted my teenage and young adult boys to have a unique, exciting, and fun time – and they did. This was their favorite activity from our trip to Colorado. We had spectacular views of the canyon and the Royal Gorge Bridge. We even saw Big Horn Sheep and a train. Our guide, Reid, would turn the raft to make sure we didn’t miss amazing views. There was an area where the rafts pulled ashore and our guides allowed people to jump off of a rock into a deeper area of the river. My boys loved it! Reid let them do it 3 times, which made their day. We never felt rushed. Reid listened to what the boys wanted, which was to get wet and swim. So, he let them do that in a couple of other areas. They loved it! Reid knew the river well. He also pointed out several historical landmarks along the way, which my husband especially enjoyed. We will ask for Reid to be our guide when we come back for more.

Additional things to know: We did the1/2 day 1:45pm tour, which I felt was the perfect length. Check-in was at the White Water Bar and Grill in Cañon City, then we were directed to get our provided gear (life vests, shoes, helmets, etc). There are nice, large, clean restrooms to change in, which have wooden benches to hold your bags or clothes while you change. I recommend coming dressed and ready to go, but bring an outfit and towel that you can leave in your car to change into afterwards. There are no lockers for your belongings, so you have to keep items in your car. They do provide a place for your car keys. Once we were ready, we didn't wait long in the white fenced area where we waited to get on our bus. They called us by group name and then loaded us on the bus. During the short 5-8 minute bus ride to our drop-off area, they went over instructions. It was a little hard to hear from the back, but don't worry. They will go over instructions more than once. The main point is "Stay in the Boat!" If you follow your guide’s instructions, that should be achievable. At the drop-off site, there are port-a-potties. I recommend you go to the bathroom at the check-in area because the facilities are better. We were introduced to our guide and the photographers. The photographers kayaked with the group. They also serve as additional rescuers, if needed. They spent about 10 minutes going over rescue procedures: how to get back into the raft, temporary help from the kayak (how to hold on and how not to hold on), and how to swim to the shore. I highly recommend that you purchase your photos in advance because you receive a discount. Plus, if you are like my crew, the photos were greatly desired. I did have to call to get my link, but the lady I spoke to apologized and quickly sent me the link. The only thing that was slightly frustrating was that we had to sift through all 350 photos, of everyone that went at 1:45pm, to find our raft. Fortunately, my youngest son wore a long sleeve sun shirt which made it easier to identify our raft. The photos were excellent. We were able to practice all the instructions with our guide at the beginning of our tour. It allowed us to make sure we were paddling correctly and understood what we were supposed to do. We rafted ~ 10 miles of the Arkansas River. It was gorgeous! There are also port-a-potties at the end of the rafting tour. I saw several deer at the pick-up point. Then we took a short bus ride back to the area with our car. I researched a couple of different rafting companies. I felt that Royal Gorge Rafting offered a terrific adventure with experienced guides. Overall, it was exactly what we hoped for, and I was very pleased with...

Whitewater Rafting at The Royal Gorge – An Unforgettable Experience!

Royal Gorge Whitewater Rafting absolutely lived up to the hype of all its five-star reviews! From start to finish, the experience was seamless and full of excitement.

Our guide, Tim, was outstanding—keeping us safe, informed, and even treating us to an amazing warm fajita lunch. The thoughtful touches of chips and dip before, and dessert after, made it feel like a five-star riverside dining experience! Guide Nick also helped prepare the meal, adding to the welcoming atmosphere.

Harley, paddling alongside us in his kayak, played dual roles—capturing fantastic action shots, bighorn sheep on cliffs, and providing an extra layer of safety in case anyone fell out. It was comforting knowing he was there, and the pictures he took will be cherished forever.

One thing that stood out was the location itself. Unlike our last rafting trip, which was more rustic with porta-potties and a simple campground, this setup was first-class—complete with a restaurant, changing rooms, and a well-stocked gift shop. Having all the amenities made everything easy, from arrival to departure.

Another highlight was how well-equipped our guides were. When I got chilly after our lunch break, Tim even had a fleece shirt for me—a thoughtful gesture that added to the overall experience.

For anyone planning this adventure, I’d recommend bringing: A clip-on water bottle for easy hydration Towels for the ride home A positive attitude, ready to listen, execute, and enjoy every thrilling moment!

It was the perfect way to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday, and I wish we could be back in two weeks to tackle Level 5 rapids—Tim says we’re ready!

If you’re looking for a top-tier rafting experience with expert guides, great food, and a well-organized setup, Royal Gorge Whitewater Rafting is the...

Incredible Adventure with Royal Gorge Rafting and Our Amazing Guide Savanna.

My girlfriend and I recently went on a thrilling rafting trip with Royal Gorge Rafting, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! From start to finish, every aspect of our trip was exceptional, thanks to our incredible guide, Savanna. First of all, we were really nervous because both of us do not know to swim, we did the Bighorn sheep canyon rafting. The team leader made sure to give us proper instructions. She took the time to explain all the safety procedures.

Savanna, our guide, played a huge role in making this experience the best one ever. She was not only highly skilled and knowledgeable but also incredibly passionate about her job. She ensured that we were comfortable and well-prepared before hitting the water. Throughout the trip, she shared interesting facts about the area, pointed out beautiful sights, and even cracked a few jokes to keep the spirits high. She created a fantastic atmosphere and made everyone on board feel like part of a close-knit family. Her expertise and confidence gave us a sense of trust, allowing us to relax and fully immerse ourselves in the adventure.

the thrill factor of this rafting trip was off the charts! We were seeking an adrenaline rush, and the rafting experience definitely delivered. The rapids were exciting and exhilarating, providing just the right amount of challenge and excitement. We felt safe throughout the entire journey, which allowed us to have the time of our lives.

I highly recommend Royal Gorge Rafting and Savanna as your guide. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

Thank you, Royal Gorge Rafting, and especially Savanna, for an unforgettable journey! Can't wait to be back for...
