Absolutely awful experience — do NOT bring your children here! If I could give zero stars, I would.
We stopped at this rock shop after visiting the Royal Gorge, excited to let my 3.5-year-old twin boys pick out something special to take home. I’m from Oklahoma and a huge rock and crystal lover myself, so we were genuinely looking forward to this stop.
While my sister browsed, I spent about 10 minutes with my kids at the “fill-a-bag for $6.99” station. Everything was going fine until the employee rudely snatched a rock from my son’s hand—one I intended to buy—and told me he had taken it from another area and she was “putting it back.” I brushed it off and continued helping my kids pick their stones.
My sister offered to take the boys outside to the large rock area so I could browse more peacefully. As they were leaving, the same woman made a snide comment, saying, “Yeah, that’s probably better for them out there,” implying my boys weren’t welcome inside.
Then, I returned to where we left our small basket—containing the rocks my kids had picked—and she had moved it to the front counter, snapping that they “have signs everywhere” about not putting baskets on their glass stands. Our small basket wasn’t even obstructing anything, and her tone was downright rude and uncalled for.
At the register, I mentioned that a few rocks my kids grabbed wouldn’t be included in the final purchase, and again, she snapped sarcastically, “Oh thank you very much,” with an attitude.
At that point, I finally said, “You must not have any kids,” to which she smugly replied, “No, and I wouldn’t—but I have nieces and nephews and taught them not to run around and touch everything.” Let me be clear: my children were NEVER unsupervised, and any time they explored something, either I or my sister was right there. This woman clearly does not like children and made it known.
Between the rude comments, snatching items out of our hands, and passive-aggressive behavior, we decided to walk out and not spend a dime. My sister already had over $100 worth of items picked out. I had planned to spend over $100 myself—including a $200 bear carving I loved—but this woman’s attitude destroyed the entire experience.
I will never return to this store, and I urge families with children—especially young ones—to steer clear. It’s clear they don’t want you or...
Read moreI've been here twice. First time I drove down here from Denver and they were and had been sold out of what I came there for. I still decided to buy something else and they accidentally overcharged my card by $100. That mistake wound up causing me an overdraft fee! It took a long time to figure out but I was indeed reimbursed, but not for the overdraft fee.
I decided recently to go back to see if they had what I was looking for, making sure they were open because it is a long drive from Denver. Just as I was about to arrive I got into an accident, and after wrapping all that up on the side of the road, decided to limp my car the remaining 7 miles to the rock shop since I'd driven all that way, and when I got there they were closed, gates were closed, no indication they had been open all day. I called three times to no answer. I checked their site and posted hours and every social media source I could and everything verified they were open. If I had known they were closed I wouldn't have wasted an entire day trying to get there. I would not have been involved in an accident during my nearly 4 hour round trip. It was very frustrating; they should abide by their posted business hours for their customers and if they aren't going to be open on a regular day, they should announce that, rather than allowing people to show up to...
Read moreThey got it if it's a rock, a gem, or a crystal. I could fill this entire review with every name of crystal I could, but it would still lack all the items they have. Once could say, they rock our world. Besides the obvious they also have knick-knacks, jewelry, cut dice, mortar & pestle, stones cut to hold candles, local gold, silver, and copper in all forms, bead work, taxidermy butterflies, agate stone slabs, fossils, fluorescent stones, bucket of assorted rocks, polished rocks and, so much more! They have a large plot outside where you can buy pure stones of a variety. Huge pieces at reasonable prices! Not to mention they also have discount carts and sales on certain tables. Tehy had an amethyst table marked at 50% off price marked. Large pieces at reasonable price. It takes a boulder person to read through this list of puns in my review. The staff was articulate in their work and proud in their craft. They provide great knowledge about the different specimen of items on hand. I was also glad to see a variety of local stones and listed local ones. No matter what you are looking for, there is a gift here for everyone of all ages and for all margins of pocketbooks! The stones I obtained here for my rock collection has so much...
