There is a huge parking lot behind the memorial with plenty of accessible parking, and there is an accessible paved sidewalk that takes you through the memorial. At the entrance, there are some engraved signs and stones, and taller engravings as well that you can read. From there, if you continue right, you'll see the row of posts which at night light up to form the ship (which you can't see unless you are at some higher point to aerially view it). After that, you reach the water area- and it seems to be more so a small lake than a river. Inside there are more posts that can light up at night. A flag proudly flies at the dock further down and you can look out into the lake.

From there, you'll see their small museum (appeared to be closed on Sunday), but since it's all glass- you can still peer in; they had some war weaponry and other artifacts in there. Next to that is another artistic piece with pieces of metal with names engraved strung together and some taller engraved signs. Overall, it's pretty small and you could walk through it in less than 10 minutes, but it is one of the larger memorials that I've seen in Arizona thus far in dedication...

The story behind USS Arizona Memorial Gardens is beautiful and it shows how hard our Native American neighbors worked to make this happen! I have been to the USS Arizona Memorial in Hawaii and have to say this site brought back all of the feelings I felt standing in awe over the USS Arizona itself. It is beautiful at night but try to visit during the day as well. The building is open a few hours a week but you are able to see everything from the outside. Read all of the information and stop to look at the names of the men who gave their lives for us and understand what the lit columns stand for. It is situated between The Great Wolf Lodge and the Stadium. We parked at the lodge. There is no restroom at the memorial but it is definitely...

If you visit Scottsdale, or if you live there, you should visit this memorial. It is beautiful and educational, with plaques telling the history of what happened at Pearl Harbor and the experiences of survivors, as well as the history of preserving and memorializing Pearl Harbor and the involvement of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa community. They have a piece of the original memorial that was built at Pearl Harbor in 1950 on display. There are also lighted poles that outline the shape of the USS Arizona, each representing a soldier on the ship when it was attacked. It is a beautiful memorial that more people need...

Have you been to this memorial in Arizona yet? 🇺🇸 the outline looks like a ship from the sky. This is the USS Arizona Memorial Gardens on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian tribe’s land in Scottsdale as a forever remembrance to the soldiers who died at Pearl Harbor. On this 5-acre memorial, you’ll see a lake that glows up at night with each white pillar representing someone who passed away. There is also a small indoor space that preserves a piece of the USS Arizona that you can see though the glass and portholes. Kids love this place! It’s located right next to a @benandjerrys inside the @greatwolflodge so grab an ice cream for these hot summer nights then walk through the memorial gardens. This is a place for honoring and remembering - be respectful and observe all rules when you’re there. 🫶 thank you @discoversaltriver for creating such a beautiful space. #saltriver #arizona #scottsdale #ussarizona #memorial #ship #pearlharbor #exploreaz #explorearizona

Beautiful and touching, serene memorial hidden away a bit from the public. That keeps it quiet, and ultimately a better experience. We went on a beautiful Saturday and walked around the memorial during the day. The flags are at half mast, which we assumed is all the time since they were not at half mast anywhere else that day. There is an enclosed space where a portion of the original ship is, but it was closed. The south side of the memorial has water and the north side has a peaceful garden with plants native to Arizona. The whole tribute is very moving.
