I would occasionally sub and after expressing I wanted to teach more I was told that I needed to commit to yoga pod, so, I reached out about participating in yoga podās karma yogi program. After reviewing the details I expressed concern about the compensation for the program. This program is incredibly beneficial to the studio, but seems exploitative. Especially when this position is such a vital part of the studioās success. Here are the details: you have to commit to 3 months and have to work 3.5 hours a week. Now, at this rate the karma yogi is trading 14 hours of laborious work a month in exchange for a membership that is valued at $159/mo and for discounts off yoga teacher training programs. The karma yogi is trading 1 hr of work for $11.35, which is $3 below minimum wage ( but itās okay because they offer discounts on services they provide) When I brought this up Shae was disgruntled. She stated that the studio has been so gracious to meā¦does that mean Iām not allowed to speak up on injustices I feel that are going on? This program is NOT for me, and after reviewing the details I think itās unjust for anyone. As I was having this conversation with Shae, she felt the need to mention to me several times that she was trying to be careful with her words, and even in carefully crafting her words she made many micro aggressive comments towards me. She stated that she felt like I thought I was above this position, ignorant of the fact that I am a child of immigrants and see the value in hard work. My initial concern was stating that this is one of the most important jobs at the studio and that I think the karma yogi deserves more. She then deflected and stated she felt like I wanted a āfreeā membership (Iām not sure what gave her the right to assume my socioeconomic status) I told her I can afford to pay the membership and I stated AGAIN to her the details of the program and tried to get my point across that there seems to be an unfair trade off. She then stated that I wasnāt giving enough to the yoga pod community. What is this a cult?! If you really care about your community you empathize and validate other human experiences, instead of justifying something blindly, hear your community out. I watched Shae deflect over and over and watched her dig herself in a hole. The people who attend and make this business run so smoothly are not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been practicing yoga for some time but hadn't tried hot yoga before last month. My friend convinced me to give hot yoga a try and I'm so glad that I did! The studio is gorgeous, very well maintained, clean and suitable for all practice levels and ages. The staff are genuinely friendly and teachers are knowledgeable and kind. You feel welcome here.
They have 2 lovely studios that teaches a wide range of classes - from hot yoga (of different temperature levels, which is nice because I don't want to be too hot), Yin Yoga, PlayPod (where you bring your kids, so cute!) and more.
I really appreciate that the studio has 2 studio spaces instead of one large room. It seems to avoid massive crowds of people in one room. I think you have a better interaction with your teacher, along with being able to focus in a comfortable space with less people.
I couldn't recommend this place more.. so if you're thinking about it, just go! I'm looking forward to eventually getting a semester pass soon and coming as...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat a great business!
I'm about as flexible as a 2x4 and can't do a Child's Pose, but I ride my bike a lot. And when I got a flat right in front of this business, not only did the owner lend me a wrench to take my wheel off (I had lent mine to a friend who I am sure is in the process of returning it), he let me use his bathroom to wash my hands and then let me charge my dead-battery bike pump to get me back on the road.
He did all this with a smile on his face and genuine good will. His place is spotless and oozes serenity, and his kind gesture turned a shitty situation into a great, life-affirming experience.
Not that I'm decrepit, but I'm old enough to remember when customer service was still a thing and businesses were in business for people instead of just profits, and this place is simply exemplary.
Well done and thank you and your entire staff, who were friendly, smiling and helpful to a sweaty, dirty,...
