C’mon Tucson, are you really giving this place any attention? We found Seis to be really disappointing. First off, you are paying sit down restaurant prices for takeout window food. Secondly, the food is average at best. Thirdly, they don’t care. We waited nearly an hour and it was not overly busy. We had the “(2) Grilled Shrimp Tacos” that were served in “house made corn tortillas”. The tortillas are a very strange and rubbery texture, and they are neither warm nor toasted, they are raw. Yuck. The tacos are tiny and they were served ice-cold. The 2 shrimp were cold, the tortillas were cold and the crema/Seis sauce only made the whole thing more cold. We sent them back. We got new tacos that were - cold. Our “Mexico City Style” quesadilla which was promised to be “Large handmade corn tortilla stuffed with melted cheese and fire roasted green chiles, topped with cilantro, red onion, queso fresco and Seis-Style chipotle crema” was a small corn tortilla that was folded over with cheese, no discernible green chile and we added the birria. Nope Seis, that’s not birria, not $17 worth - birria is not just bland, tasteless shredded beef. Birria de Res is an authentic traditional Mexican beef stew, full of fall-apart tender meat cooked in a rich beef broth flavored with dried chiles and spices and usually served with a cup of the flavorful broth. Not at Seis. I love a good meal, I appreciate restaurants that care. This is not one of those places. Tucson is full of great restaurants - don’t bother with this one. It’s only selling point is that it is located in a place that draws people - otherwise it’s just a walk up window selling overpriced and very average food. Also - no adult beverages. if you want any beer/wine/margarita with your food - you are gonna pay. We had two margaritas from the walk up window across the courtyard and they were miniature. They were also $12 ea. It added up to a pretty expensive dinner that wasn’t even good. I’d have rather gone to any number of the “berto” drive throughs. Do yourself a favor and go...
Read moreThis place has been going downhill over the last few months. I come to this place religiously for takeout, at least once a month, and my last few visits have been extremely disappointing. At first it was subpar cold meat - again this is takeout, so I understand there will be a loss of heat in transportation. I’m forgiving of several degrees, but the temperature of my meals have been pretty gross. The tortillas always arrive ripped to the point they look like they’ve been cut in half - before even handling a taco. The chicken tinga and birria tacos are always sopping wet, as in dripping in oil and sauce making the entire taco one giant sized mound of mush. Most of their sides are really bland now, the only sides worth your attention are the beans and chips. Most of the time they actually forget your side of chips. On my last visit, I called 12 times to place an order over the phone. I was eventually forced to use their new and “improved” online ordering system, which didn’t have all their menu items and had confusing order features such as “select a meat for your birria taco” but birria wasn’t listed as a meat option for a birria taco? The order time listed 30 minutes for my order which was already 10 minutes over their usual speediness. I suspected the restaurant was busy, but upon my arrival, the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. I had seen it more busy on other occasions with quicker service and better food. Funny enough, the server at the counter was picking up calls regularly. I was confused as to why my calls weren’t picked up a single time. Waiters were hanging out in the back drinking their snack drinks and chatting, which is fine...because they weren’t busy. All in all I had to wait 45 minutes for my cold, bland, and soggy food that was supposedly just prepared for my take out. I’m really sad that I may never come back here. I would suggest going somewhere else for high end...
Read moreI brought my mother in for lunch after she had heard negative things about this restaurant. I assured her those comments weren’t true, but unfortunately, our experience proved otherwise.
The restaurant was very empty at the time, yet our food still took an unusually long time to arrive. At one point, the food that was already being brought to our table was diverted to the owner and a professional taste-testing the menu. Because of this, the kitchen had to prepare entirely new food for us, making our wait even longer.
The setup didn’t help either: there was only one paper menu at the front in tiny font that was difficult to read. There were no menus at the tables, no QR codes to scan, and only the drink options posted on the wall. For a sit-down restaurant, this felt confusing and unwelcoming.
Service overall was poor, with the exception of Hannah at the front, who was wonderful and attentive. Unfortunately, the food itself was just as disappointing. The tacos came out burnt and had to be sent back, and my $20 burrito arrived lukewarm when it finally came out. When the owner came over to address the situation, she seemed disinterested and unenthusiastic about hearing our concerns. This was especially disappointing since I’ve had good experiences at the Oro Valley location.
While our meal was comped, that doesn’t erase the poor service, food quality, or overpriced menu. Honestly, I could have microwaved frozen food at home and had a better lunch. At best, this location might work better as a bar given the emphasis on drinks, but it is far from a reliable place to eat. Unfortunately, I will not be returning, regardless of any...
