Has great handicap access, ♿ parking and accommodations. And if they run out they make exceptions.
Plan ahead, great parking in general, stunning landscape, AWESOME BOURBON, fun environment and plenty of 😊.
Next & MOST important: Andrew Andrew Andrew, I hope you have the privilege experiencing your tour with Andrew. Andrew has a passion for what he does and I have never ran across a tour guide/historian that truly made me feel like there was any questions left on the block. The group involvement, thorough answers, broad knowledge of the distillery throughout its ever challenging history with personal understanding, experience and PRIDE in what is now Buffalo Trace Distillery. His Bank Joke is actually pretty good!
The leadership over the last century and a half, if only America was this lucky. This company stuck to the roots & forged through many trials as a team and will continue because they are not broken from the inside. Thankful this company is; I am most certain of it, that Mr Blanton actually worked from the ground up 55 years at this Distillery actually understanding, experiencing & feeling what it took and what it was going to take to continue to forge on for the next few centuries.
The mold was broken after this man was made, no other leadership or family has a claim to such time spent, devotion to God and Country, dedication to it's success without compromise for a BUCK, especially these days in America.
That's all our leaders are is compromise so they can continue to not pay taxes and waste time doing nothing. Anybody does more than those people, anybody on their worst day does more than a politician even thinks during their term. Oooops spilled the beans on those guys.
Hopefully Buffalo Trace can continue to expand with reasonable expansion cost with competitive construction and no red tape or involvement from the previous mentioned individuals.
Definitely looking forward to my next trip and saying hi to Andrew.
To your continued success a toast; to those before, to those today and to those tomorrow who will continue on with what it really...
Read more⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Two Incredible Tours at Buffalo Trace – A Must-Visit for Any Bourbon Lover
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of joining two outstanding tours at the legendary Buffalo Trace Distillery: the Hard Hat Tour and the Old Taylor Tour – and I can honestly say, both were among the best experiences I’ve had on the Bourbon Trail.
The Hard Hat Tour, notoriously hard to get tickets for, took us deep into the heart of the distillery’s production areas. Even though operations are currently paused due to the historic flooding earlier this year, it was still incredible to see how much passion and precision go into every part of the process. The cleanup is nearly complete, and production is expected to resume soon. The dedication to preserving tradition while preparing for the future is truly admirable.
The Old Taylor Tour was equally impressive, steeped in history and reverence. We explored the older parts of the distillery, unfortunately not the warehouses as these are still being dried, but we did learn a lot about Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor Jr - a true pioneer of modern bourbon. Not only was he instrumental in establishing Buffalo Trace’s early success, but he also championed quality standards like Bottled-in-Bond, which shaped the entire industry. His legacy lives on at the whole Distillery and in every barrel.
The tasting at the at the old limestone building was another highlight: a progressive flight of high-quality bourbons, particularly from the E.H. Taylor Jr. line. Each pour was memorable, complex, and a great way to dive in the history.
What makes these experiences even more remarkable? They’re completely free – yet delivered with a level of professionalism, hospitality, and genuine passion that rivals any premium paid experience. As someone who has visited 52 distilleries across Kentucky, I can confidently say: Buffalo Trace belongs at the very top of the list.
If you’re anywhere near Frankfort – or even if you're not – make the trip. Buffalo Trace is an absolute must-see for every...
Read moreWe visited Kentucky for the first time to tour the Bourbon Trail and were lucky that our campground was just a short drive from Buffalo Trace. We started our trip here, and honestly, every distillery we visited afterward felt like a bit of a step down. Buffalo Trace sets the bar.
They offer six free tastings (yes, free!) and most afternoons you can grab a craft cocktail for around $6. But what made this place unforgettable wasn’t just the drinks, it was the people. We had read that Buffalo Trace was “family friendly,” but that doesn’t even begin to describe it.
Our kids were treated like family from the moment we arrived. They were given special wristbands (technically to indicate underage guests, but they told our kids they were VIP passes) that allowed them to try root beer and ginger ale samples, and they were even given a chocolate during our tasting. The property has a playground, so we could enjoy a cocktail while the kids played within view.
Kids are also welcome on multiple tours. If you don’t see availability online, just line up before they open, they'll work to get you on one. We took both the Trace Tour and the Distillers Tour (a mini version of the Hard Hat Tour), and our kids were able to join us on both. The tours were engaging, informative, and we learned so much about the history and craft behind Buffalo Trace.
And we have to give a huge shoutout to Devin, Ashley, Josh, Scott, Todd, Mary Anna, and Mollie. Every single one of them made us feel welcomed, cared for, and like part of the family. They truly went above and beyond.
Whether you’re a bourbon lover, traveling with kids, or both, Buffalo Trace is absolutely worth the stop. This was the highlight of our...
