We were in town for my son’s mountain bike race and I took the opportunity to go on a guided fly fishing trip. Josh Frank was the guide that was assigned to me and he did an excellent job. Josh chose a public section of the Colorado that he thought was a better choice than paying for private access and it turned out to be a great choice. There was just the 2 of us on the water; we saw no one else the whole day! I have dry fly fished previously (self taught) and had no clue how to nymph fish. I was so happy that Josh patiently explained and illustrated to me the proper technique to cast and drift nymphs. It took me a while but eventually with Josh picking the right nymphs and my presentation improving I caught fish! I landed 8 or 9 brown trout and a rainbow. Oh yeah I did get one on a dry fly. Also I missed a few good ones that were bigger than the pic shown (next time). I was having a great time and I wanted to extend my 6 hour trip to 8 and Josh was up for it. Really happy to have had this experience and couldn’t ask for a better guide. Highly recommend and ask for Josh to guide you!

My husband and I come to Winter Park for a final week on the slopes in April each year. Since retiring he has taken up fly fishing. Knowing the snow conditions might not be good for a full day on the mountain he packed his fly rod as a backup. Our first stop after skiing several hours was the Fraser Fly Shop and we continued to stop in several more times throughout the week. The shop is nicely stocked with everything you could need and the staff were most helpful. They pointed us in the right direction as to what flies might be most productive and gave us spot on intel on where to go. I highly recommend a stop at this shop if you are in the area to go fishing. They have a really cute puppy as well.

I recommend hiring Josh Frank to guide you on your fly fishing adventure. We had a great time and my kids have already asked to go fly fishing again. My son (age 8), daughter (age 10) and I were all new to fly fishing. Josh Frank took us a scenic spot with water that was age/experience appropriate. While we were there we experienced a hatch and caught fish while learning the basics. Josh was patient while demonstrating how to spot and work a seam, dead drift, and both cast with nymph and a dry fly. He was eager to explain how the river cycled through the year and different techniques. It was the right level of detail and experience for our capabilities.

We came into this shop to rent some fishing gear for a some day fishing and the gear we received was awful. We received two polls and one of them had a max of 15 feet of line, no hook, and was obviously worn down. We decided to make do and go fishing anyway but while we were fishing we were snagged on a bush. I pulled the poll back (very lightly) and it snapped despite little resistance. Upon returning to the shop to return the gear and explain the situation. They REFUSED to work with us and except that it was their fault for providing faulty equipment. Highly do not recommend using this shop for services, awful experience from start to finish! Only reason I’m giving two stars is because we still had an okay time fishing until the faulty pole broke. Would consider pulling this review if management...

If you are wanting to fly fish in Grand County Colorado then this is the place for you. They have everything you would possibly need to fly fish and the best guides that are very knowledgeable. I have only been fly fishing a couple of months and I was having some issues with my knots and mending the line. Tyler was my guide for a 6 hour Wade trip and he was awesome. We went on the Colorado River and he taught me so much like how to look at the insects the fish are eating, water temp., how to get a better cast and natural drift down the river, better knots, and river etiquette. The views are absolutely breathtaking in the fall and best social distancing activity you can find. Everyone at the shop makes you feel comfortable asking any question and they are just the nicest people you would ever...
