I booked a tasting for our anniversary getaway because I heard a lot of great things about this vineyard so I wanted to experience it with my husband. We made our tasting appointment for 4:30 pm May 25, 2024. We arrived promptly only to be told that they were running behind. We waited 10 minutes before our pairing food was placed in front of us. Before us waiting I noticed the host was doing a tasting right next to us with three Caucasian women. I noticed the pores were at least an ounce and a half. Let's fast-forward to us! There were so many flies and fruit flies in the establishment. I had to get another glass because a fruit fly was in my glass. My husband and I were constantly fanning to keep the flies off of our pairing food. There is no telling how many flies were in the kitchen. The host was working alone and she was overworked however, she found plenty of energy after our second tasting when someone familiar she knew walked in so she went and talked to them for exactly 8 minutes. She poured them, a glass of their choice wine which was about half a glass of wine. We later found out they were club members. She talked to them about things that were going on in her life as we waited again. We had to wait when we got there, and we had to continue to wait with her friends walked in! Why were club members allowed to disrupt a tasting for potential future members is beyond me. She eventually came back over and I had a plastic cup over my glass to prevent the fruit flies from going in and she asked me to hurry up and take it off so she could pour our third tasting. How ironic is that? She was taking her time serving us, but when it was time for third the pouring, she asked me to hurry up. Each one of our pours was less than an ounce. I noticed three African-American young ladies came in and sat next to us and their pouring was extremely small as well. I got the feeling that people of color are not wanted at this vineyard. The last pour was a joke. It was half of an ounce. We were disappointed in the experience. There should be at least two people hosting the tastings, so the customers can get the full...
Read moreTwo girlfriends and I chose this winery to experience, and we were pretty excited about it. We had just come from another winery that was so fun, and the staff was so friendly. We were able to share the wine tasting as I prefer the rose’ and white wines and they prefer the red wines and some whites. The girl at the tent greeted us and was so nice and fun but we did not experience the same warm welcome from the staff indoors. Laura was our server, and she wasn’t rude, but she wasn’t very friendly either. As soon as we told her where we just came from and that we were going to share the wine tasting, she really didn’t want to bother with us anymore. The amount of wine she gave us was laughable. She barley poured anything and after watching her pour the same wines for another table, it was clear that she was doing this on purpose. She was giving them twice the amount of wine than what she was giving us. She didn’t explain the wines to us at all, she barley read the description from the menu and on our last wine, she just poured the bare minimum and walked away. Meanwhile at the other table, she was giving them the most pours and chatting with them about the wines. We weren’t sharing to be cheap by any means. We also ordered a pizza, a charcuterie board, and bruschetta bites. None of these items were cheap and to be honest, the only thing worth its price was the pizza. Everything came out in to-go boxes, the bruschetta bites were cold and just blah and the $35.00 charcuterie board was a joke. The location and scenery were very nice, but we were highly disappointed in our wine tasting experience. The winery before and the ones after, were so much more...
Read moreI don't recommend this winery and am extremely disappointed in this experience.
I booked the "Ultimate Wine Experience" with high hopes of a great food and wine pairing, in an intimate setting, with a knowledgeable server. However, I was embarrassingly disappointed I took my group here. At over $50 per tasting and the name of "Ultimate Wine Experience" I expected some level of personalization and intimacy for our group, but received none.
We were brought in and seated at a bar top, with the 5 people in my group in a single line. I had to get up to have a conversation with the other people in my group at the end of our row. The wine pours were at most an ounce and a half, which, for $50/tasting, I expected more wine. I was unable to truly gain the full experience of the food and wine pairing because by sipping the wine to taste its flavors and notes, having a small bite of the cheeses provided, then sipping the wine again to taste the changes, the small pour was gone. The overall maybe glass and a half of wine, incredibly small bites included did not warrant the $50 per person price.
Again, at that price point of the "Ultimate Experience", I expected a server to sit with us, talk to us about wine, and be dedicated to our group alone (especially since we were charged a mandatory 20% gratuity), but she was spending half her time with the group on the other end of the bar.
The wines overall were not that good, the service was terrible, the knowledge of the server was subpar, and the overall experience was not at all worth the money.
I don't recommend Baron's Creek Vineyards and honestly am embarrassed to have taken my...
