( Date : Aug.20.2015 ) To leave a review I needed to give at least one star , I wouldn't even leave a single one after I got kiked out from this so wery welcoming center of VA this night . I drove all night thru Baltimore and DC . Couldn't drive any more so I pooled over to this welcome center and all truck parking was full , so I pulled thru in and parked on the side there was one spot and made sure it was safe and there are plenty room to get thru the road .My truck wasn't blocking road at all. All rigs were at least 5 feet more on the driveway than my truck . There wasn't no parking sign there. Than only a minute later lady came over and said that she is a supervisor and told me that I have to leave , because I can't park there , and there are no more parking spots. I said that I can't drive no more , and this spot is safe and not blocking any road . But she said if there are no white line on the side that means I can't park there , and threatened to call a highway patrol . She told me to go to next rest area . But if you have ever drove at night thru VA on a semi tuck you would know that to find a parking spot at nights, as like winning a lottery all thru out east coast and specially VA , because most rest area parking are small , and not enough of truck stops . So it would leave us no option but to drive even if you are not able to any more legally and phisically tired . So yes , the best way to keep our highways and people on them safe is to forbid parking on ramp-shoulders , and with that force fatigue drivers to keep going on till they run of the roads , or worse over somebody . I whish that somehow this night parking problem was resolved difrentlly . So is forcing people to drive looking and hoping to find parking spot is the answer ????? . (Mostly around east...
Read moreGREAT place to refresh! was hauling a huge rv home we'd just purchased. never hauled one that big b4. Around hour 10 of being on the road we were tired, hungry, dog needed to stretch and we didn't want to get far off the highway. I saw this rest stop and am happy I pulled in and my daughter pulled her car she was following on, right behind me - lots of room in the BIG parking areas. Passenger cars used the first (left) lane to pull in and park. Semis, towing vehicles and double axle vehicles to the right. *very very clean and maintained. large building with nice info/ historical interest point markers and plaques. automatic doors, nice landscaping and restrooms were very large, well stocked and shiny clean. there were attendants on ground. *what stood out as TOP notch- the inside picnic tables by large windows and a tv.... but the many modern vending machines that took card or cash iced that cake! great variety of snacks, drinks, candies and even sandwhiches like ham and cheese, p butter and jelly, egg salad etc! There was even a hot cocoa machine where you can customize your hot beverage.
Right outside the restrooms was another vending machine that supplied all types of necessary items you may find yourself in need of on the road. Being weary and sore from the drive I was super thankful it had Tylenol! It had Tylenol, stomach meds, disposable razors, soaps, shampoos, tampons, .... and much more. In an open rack they supplied large free Virginia road maps, hotel coupon books and a nice magazine filled with suggestions and info on fun family things to do and see in...
