I trusted overmyer jeweler because they deal with antiques, clocks, and watches and I read reviews before I approached them... my mistake. I took a vintage rolex watch to them for the free verbal appraisal and possibly a sale. The clerk clearly had no clue what a rolex master gtm was. She was not interested in serial number or model number instead she asked could she remove the back and and take a look. As I watched her, she did not know how to handle a fine piece she used all her body weight standing atop this watch with some sort of tool, unable to remove the back cover, then she says from across the room "did you know your crown is missing" I said uhm.. no.. not.. she says "well the spring is broken" well.. no it was perfectly fine until she bared down on it trying to remove the back that she obviously didnt know how or have the right tools. So, it was handed back to me in pieces and she said.. " look at the bezel it's not lined up perfectly "... that's because it rotates I tell her she says "uhm.. no" then she says.." see how the seconds hand is fast ant jerky?" I say "yeah that's how its supposed to be" it has a fast tick not a slow tick she says it's a copy because rolex moves smooth with no hesitation and that I need to pay a few hundred dollars to pay to get it certified and fix the broken crown! The crown that was perfectly intact and operational before she attempted to destroy it to look for what I don't know, the serial number and model is hidden behind the band. These watches are selling between $5,000 and $20,000 and little does she know, I did my homework and now have found an experienced jeweler who quotes they pay up to $8,000 for the rolex GMT Master pepsi series and its the serial number and model number that is of the their interest and unfortunately I found them after overmyer jeweler gave me back the watch and had to place it in a baggie because it is now in 2 pieces because of the lack of experience in handling...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you care about your jewelry, do not bring it here. I brought a family crest ring to be resized. The ring was returned to us with dents in the side, and the soldering broke the same day.
I went back to ask for a refund, and the employee was incredibly unprofessional. She questioned whether the ring was real gold, implied that the dents were to be expected because "the jeweler had to hold the ring somehow," and excused the issues, saying they are a small business.
Eventually, she agreed to a full refund, so if this were the end of the story, I would not be leaving a review. However, we took the ring to another jeweler who looked at the ring and could not believe an actual jeweler had done such shoddy work. She said that they had sanded the ring but not cleaned or polished it, so it was dirty and covered in debris. When they heated the ring, they didn't anneal it properly, so it was incredibly brittle and likely to break again. And she couldn't believe that they held it with metal pliers that left deep indentations on the soft gold.
Under other circumstances, I would never leave such a harsh review on a small business. However, we trusted a very sentimental and important ring to this jeweler, and this experience was absolutely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe store itself is pretty cool with all the unique looking clocks & some very pretty jewelry. The employees were friendly. But they seemed very disorganized. The gentleman that would do work on the ring I took in to have looked at couldn't really answer my questions. And didn't help me feel comfortable entrusting their work & leaving my ring in their care (reg flag 1). I overheard a customer call wanting a clock that was to be fixed. And they had no idea who this person was or where the clock was that was fixed (or to be fixed, not sure which) reg flag 2. Over all, they were more expensive than another quote I got from around the corner & opted out of having my...
