The store itself is nice, far more upscale than any of the other haggard places around town but that's where the complements end.
The environment is hit or miss depending on the attitude of who is there. Some days you can play for free other days they want to stick you with an absurd fee. $5 to sit down and play with friends in a near empty room?? Doesn't matter if it's early in the day or close to closing time... Price is $5.. . That's a tournament entry fee at any of the other store locations.... You have bullpen, ender's, taco bell, Dennys... Who will let you sit down for free enjoy time with friends for free and offer you consessions...
I can see if it was $5 a month maybe... A premium to not have the scent of urine and @## like some of the other places that allow anyone to just sit down.. That daily fee of a passerby is a business deterrence. Talk to may of the play groups around and you hear horror stories and why the won't go back or buy from this location...
Business 101 you attract customers... 0-low entry fee and charge extra on concessions.. $2 for a 20oz soda, $1 for a small bag of chips, $1 for a bottle of water... $1 for candy bars.. You get people there and spending a lot of time there... They will eventually start spending a lot of money, they may take a peek at your card selection, they buy deck box's, card sleeves, play mats, buy a membership if it offers a discount say 5-10% have different membership levels... You charge a premium to non members silver and gold status... Where gold just gets msrp or slightly less after discounts.
Most lgs should know we understand they charge more than Amazon or most other places for the above noted items.. But we as consumers don't mind paying the extra for instant satisfaction, I don't mind paying for something I didn't know I wanted but has been staring me in the face and it's 9.99 however 7.99 on Amazon...
Will I be back? No. They have a very small card selection no where near that of say bullpen, they charge a daily fee of $5 regardless of its barely opening or about to close. Many of the big spenders don't go here for the above reasons. I spend at least $1, 000 or more each month on mtg. This place may got me for $40. There's plenty of other places I can go sit down with friends or go where someone recommended and find new friends to hang out with and enjoy a game... Here is not that...
Read moreSo I just want to say that I had already heard less than stellar things about the store. I did my best to work past them and to give them a chance because maybe I would have a different experience with the store. The few times they have actually carried what I wanted to pick up, I have been able to with moderate to no pain involved in the process. However, every time I have decided to order something through the store, it has been an actual nightmare. Twice now, I've ordered something through one employee and told that it would be in in two weeks, only to come in two weeks later and be told that no one had written my name down and therefore didn't have the product I had asked for. I thankfully wasn't charged so I didn't have to go through that whole rigmarole. This last time though was the final straw. My brother-in-law ordered a 40k model for me for Christmas back at the beginning of December and was told that it should be in by Christmas. Christmas came and went, no model. We checked with them and they said "Oh sorry, we place all the orders at once and we just placed them this last Tuesday (sometime at the end of December) and it should now come in in about two weeks." Okay, fair enough. Holidays are kind of crazy so we understood. Cut to today, the 31st of JANUARY and what do we get when we check in today? "Oh sorry, the whole Aeldari range is out of stock." Why is that a problem you might ask? Because they decided to finally order them TODAY! Lousy service and I will not be returning barring an extreme circumstance. I'll be checking out one of the other stores in Fresno that actually care to place an...
Read moreI’ve always loved coming here, the store is well stocked, the bathrooms are clean and in the women’s bathroom there is a jar of Pads, Tampons, and diapers.
I want to tell a story from today to show how good this place is. My husband, 7 month old baby, and I went to another store in town and didn’t feel welcome because we weren’t buying anything (I do understand that most places you are expected to purchase something, but it felt like we were being stared down) so we came to crazy squirrel, immediately when we walked in we were asked if we were looking for something specific or just hanging out, we were honest and said hanging out and they smiled and said to let them know if we needed anything. While we were there my son needed a bottle so I went to ask (I’m assuming) the manager if we could use one of the tables, I was really nervous and told her we won’t take up a lot of space and we won’t make a mess; she looked at me weird and said yes and go and be human. While we were making the bottle I was quietly mentioning how much more comfortable I was here, I don’t know if she heard me or not, but she came up to us, looked at my husband and said “I don’t know if anyone has overshared about this store but I will.” And then proceeded to point at my son and say that he is welcome here, that this is a family store, and she started talking about the different amenities that we could use. Truthfully I didn’t hear much as I was fighting not to cry in front of her, this was the first time we were told our son was welcome somewhere. This store and its employees deserve...
