Gainesville Barbell — Attraction in Gainesville

Probably the best gym in town. After graduating from UF I was in town for another month and they let me purchase a month membership.

On one occasion I wanted to try for three reps on a heavy bench and asked for a spot from one of the patrons. The third rep may have taken me 10 seconds to finish. After I got up from the bench I got high fives and cheers from everyone at the gym. I was not moving crazy weight and the cheers were from strangers.

They have done a great job in creating an environment where you are encouraged to push yourself regardless if that is lifting...

Started going here last year and I'm paraplegic, the owner of the gym has offered to help make it more accessible but it already was for me being in a wheelchair. Everyone who goes to this gym is nothing but extremely friendly and helpful, people here regularly offer to help me load bench up or move equipment if need be.

Fantastic community and extremely nice owner, certainly the best and most serious powerlifting gym in the area....
