Avoid This Hotel for Game Weekends I highly recommend avoiding this hotel during game weekends. Despite the high price and the fact that this isn't their first big football event, they were woefully unprepared. I’m only posting this because my written feedback to the GM went unanswered. As a lifetime Diamond member, I’ve rarely had such a negative experience. Here's what went wrong: Check-In: I was the only person at the desk and waited while the staff member was on her phone. When she finally attended to me, her attitude changed only after she saw my Diamond status. Room Mix-Up: After unpacking, another guest entered our room while me and my wife were napping after a long travel day. You can imagine how this felt for all of us. We were advised that us and the other guest were put in the wrong room. We had to move to a different room, and despite the inconvenience, we were only offered a $20 food and beverage credit, which didn’t cover the trouble we faced. Dirty Room: The new room had a dirty bathroom, hair around the sink and in the shower with mold. We only had one towel, and no water. After waiting 1.5 hours for towels and water, that were promised in 10 minutes, I had to go down to the desk to get them myself. No Name Lounge: Service was extremely slow at the lounge. We waited 30 minutes without any acknowledgment and then another 25 minutes for our order, which included cold, undercooked fries. Definitely not worth the price. Breakfast Issues: The next morning, we were forced into the buffet when we only wanted a small a la carte item. The staff's attitude was unhelpful. Billing Problems: At checkout, the promised $20 credit was not applied initially. After it was corrected, I noticed I was billed twice on my credit card for $54 and $84, despite attempts to resolve the issue at the front desk. The hotel was clearly understaffed and overwhelmed by the game weekend, but that’s no excuse for poor service, especially for a loyal Hilton Honors Diamond Member. The value was very low for the cost.

Letter of Complaint To whom it may concern, On Friday, January 17, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., I had an extremely unpleasant experience at the Hilton University of Florida hotel, while waiting in the lobby with my colleague, a journalist, and myself, the cameraman, to record a television program for a globally recognized network. In the midst of intense cold, the manager on duty, identified as Debbie, approached us in a rude and unprofessional manner, demanding that we leave the lobby because, according to her, we could not remain there. This treatment was completely unjustified, as we were there orderly, quietly, and respectfully, waiting for the arrival of a hotel guest to continue with our professional activities. What was most upsetting was that, instead of offering a solution or showing any empathy toward the weather conditions, Debbie acted with a clear lack of courtesy and consideration, leaving us outside for approximately 40 minutes, exposed to harsh cold, which hindered both our work and our comfort. This treatment is unacceptable and goes against the hospitality standards expected from a Hilton hotel. I demand that disciplinary action be taken against manager Debbie, as her behavior not only ruined our experience, but also left a very poor impression of the hotel’s customer service values. Pretty old hotel with some refurbished rooms and some not. I stayed 4 night and they never cleaned the room. I asked twice but apparently after 9am it's too late to ask for cleaning. Apparently they stopped cleaning because of COVID. I mean, seriously? Instead of increasing the frequency of cleaning like in the rest of the civilized world, you just stop it? Are you Hilton or a joke? There's no breakfast included in the overpriced rooms, and the quality of breakfast at the No Name bar or at the small take away café inside the hotel is extremely deceiving. The "basket" in the breakfast menu contained 1 store bought croissant and 1 store bought muffin. Impossible to have an espresso at the bar, but they can make it to-go at the café 🤔 The location is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, a car is definitely needed - at least there's a Metro Diner at 5 minutes walking distance. Hilton promote the use of their app to unlock the doors with the phone but it only worked the first day, then I had to go to the front desk and they gave me keycards, saying it was not possible to use the phone after the first self check in 🤷🏻‍♀️ In the picture the small design garbage basket after 4 days of no cleaning... Hilton staff, don't bother to reply, just make things better since I'm apparently not the only one to complain about cleaning.

My fiancé and I stayed last night in room 612. We made (walk-in) reservations at the front desk, and the staff were very pleasant and accommodating. The rate was $129 plus tax (Around $144 US) for a King Bed room. The hotel is conveniently located near I-75 in the SW corner of Gainesville which worked out well for us. There are several restaurants nearby. I recommend “Metro”, for breakfast, about 3 minutes up the road. The room was clean, well-lit, and although somewhat dated, it was quite comfortable. My fiancé couldn’t initially find a comfortable spot on the firmer than average mattress, but eventually fell asleep. Caveats: There are no bathroom fans, so eat carefully. The walls are single ply toilet-paper thin, so if the insomniac in the adjacent room wants to watch TV all night, you will hear it. We turned the “Fan” function on, in our room to cover the noise of his or her TV next door. There is a bar downstairs, literally called “No Name Bar”, which was comfortable, and well stocked. There is also a Shula’s Steakhouse which we did not visit, and can not speak to its quality or lack thereof. Overall, would very likely visit this hotel again, based on overall experience, and pray that The TV Aficionado has moved on. Worth a visit.

As Honors Reward members, we were not treated with the same courtesies as other guests with higher levels of membership, including not being offered water. Staff was creepy and asked our 18-year old how long she was staying and her name. Housekeeping is offered only upon request (if we hadn’t wanted room service, we would have opted for an airBNB); also, even though we requested it, housekeeping never came. The windows were dirty and cloudy. The bed was uncomfortable and hard. The coffee supplies were old; cream curdled. In general, this hotel staff needs customer service training. As my daughter pointed out, they were “fake nice”. A real missed opportunity for this hotel since she will be attending UF for the next five years and we will be visiting. It also isn’t pleasant when the ONLY parking spaces at the front of the hotel are marked “Diamond Member”. One thing is to have a rewards program to reward members; quite another is to work that to the point where the rest of guests feel less than welcomed. We have stayed at other Hilton properties before and since then and have been very pleased. This was a one-off and unfortunate as we will be visiting our daughter in Gainesville frequently over the next five years.

My recent stay at the Hilton fell significantly short of expectations. Despite using the Hilton app to request and confirm two adjacent rooms for my family well in advance, upon arrival at 2pm, I was informed that our rooms wouldn't be ready until 5pm. After waiting for some time till 4pm, we eventually had to settle for two non-adjacent rooms as staff couldn't provide any estimate of when our originally requested rooms would be available. The cleanliness of the room was concerning. Upon entering, I noticed water on the desk, used soap from a previous guest still in the shower, and hair left in the sink area - all clear indications that the room hadn't been properly cleaned between guests. The breakfast buffet experience was equally disappointing. The food lacked freshness, with pancakes so hard they made audible sounds when placed on plates and were difficult to eat. While I've generally had positive experiences with Hilton properties in the past, this stay fell well below the brand's typical standards in terms of service, cleanliness, and food quality. I hope management will address these issues for future guests.
