Found this place when craving Indian food and looking at some Google reviews. Lets go over the experience: This is a place you come to if you would like to pick up some over priced Indian food to have at home. Honestly, some days are just like that. But I would not suggest it for any other type of visit.
The food: It was really good. We, as a family of 5, ordered quite a bit. I got to try a wide assortment of the food offered here as well as two different types of naan. I was pleased with all of it. However, I have had this type of food for way less and in a much better setting. The woman running the counter did not greet us or correct us when we thought we had to sit first. We had to read a sign to realize we needed to go to the counter (it happens). We had to flag down the solo worker to ask questions and then order. The prices seemed rather high comparatively to what they offered, but all in all the food was decent and all tasted great.
The setting: Terrible. The store runs very hot, so don't plan to be here long. Like I mentioned, great place to come in and grab some food and go. We dined in. You come in, order at the counter and pay first and then seat yourself. You are also told to clean up after yourself. You are brought the food by the employee and they hand it all to you in paper plates, paper bowls, and plastic containers. Even the drinks come in small plastic togo cups. Very odd and it did make it feel cheap. Once you're done you need to pick up everything at the table and put it all away... meaning, throw away all the bowls, plastic silverware, and cups. I had one tray I had to set on top of the trash. Again, not sure why the prices here are what they are.
Family of 5 we spent about just under $100. This was for 5 meals, a side, and two drinks.
I would recommend this place if for whatever reason you can't get Indian food somewhere else and don't mind forking over the...
Read moreI came here to taste Biriyani, Kadai Chicken and Naan. As per the reviews on Internet, this is the best Indian restaurant.
My reviews:
Naan: it is good, fluffy and soft. Looks like they use naan making oven. Garlic naan is as tasty as plain naan.
Biriyani: I ordered goat Biriyani. They used small dwarf rice which they (the lady at the counter) were claiming basmati, may be poor man’s basmati rice. The biriyani is wet which is Not a good style of this dish. Goat meat is not fully cooked, still little hard. I can called this Biriyani as poor man’s street Biriyani (there are very good street food, but this one is in bad side). The cook supposed to have good training before cooking Biriyani here. Most disappointed dish. I won’t order this from here.
Kadai Chicken: It is not Kadai chicken at all, it is towards butter chicken. I skill could get the taste of tomato puree. Puree is supposed to be cooked ij slow flame for 10 to 15 min in butter. The cook has no idea what he is cooking. He has no idea about Indian cuisine. Disappointed. They gave two small cups of raita, which they called. They have no idea what is raita. Raita supposed to made with yogurt, chopped onions, tomatoes, thin slished carrots, cilantro and green chillies. You can add chaat masala, black paper and little chill powder and very little sugar. Salt as per taste. This raita is utterly nonsense, most stupid. 2 star is for naan.
Next week I would try other two Indian restaurants in Gainesville. Check my...
Read moreThe food is good but the service is bad. We ordered 3 dishes, a vegi, chicken and paneer dish.
We asked if the vegi dish had potatoes before we ordered it, she said no. It arrived with potatoes.
Then we received the chicken dish which looked nothing like the photo. In the photo it was boneless white meat, the dish we got was dark meat chicken legs. Without touching the dish I asked that she exchange it for a chicken dish like the one in the photo. She went to the chef and came back saying they can’t do that but I can pay for another dish if I wanted boneless chicken. Then I handed her the dish and asked that she please exchange it with any boneless chicken dish. She left with the dish and never came back. When I asked what she was exchanging it with, she said she can’t exchange it.
I had already paid for all this in advance so I asked for a refund for the chicken dish. She said she can’t provide a refund and that I would need to ask the manager. I asked for the manager, she said I will have to wait for him to arrive at 7PM (it was 4PM at the time).
We then went on to wait for our last dish (paneer) turns out she forgot to put in the order for it so we only had one dish. I got up to speak to her and the chef and kindly asked if they could just provide the third dish in place of the chicken and they finally did.
It was a hassle when it didn’t need to be.
5 star for the food 0 star for the service of the...
