You should not let smaller stature kids on obstacle course or do something to make it easier to navigate the overhead rope course and turn corners. Is there regular maintenance or do you show kids what to do then monitor the younger crowd? I checked many harnesses and none showed evidence of a professional inspection. I would think with kids and overhead zip lines, OSHA or some local entity might require an outside inspection at least annually. I don’t know laws in VA but asked them to consider looking into it. Credit to management, when I did ask a manger, the boss looked me up to chat and I got to express my concerns. Much appreciated. A accident from these heights is not a skinned knee…it would be something much more serious, maybe catastrophic. The skateboard does not move; kids are walking on the beam. It took the full strength of the older kids to even get it to move just a little. Most kids gave up too. My grandkids and their friend could not pull the leads around the corners to move forward or backwards. This happened to many kids. I had to ask 4 people to help them, over and over again. All the while, my grandkids were up above crying because they tried and tried and could not move the lines around the turns. They were stuck for almost 1 hr up there. It took all the strength of the bigger/older kids to even move the rope leads around and the sled/skateboard to move. Only one young lady helped the kids on the turn once I got her attention. I thanked her: she yelled dwn and said it was hard. For the price of admittance, this is not good. It makes me wonder if any of the safety gear is inspected and checked and the staff is properly trained to do a daily inspection that is logged and they fit the harness properly on kids. The staff talks to each other vs ensuring kids know what to do on a course nor do they monitor kids for safety. That was worrisome. It might be fun but I’m worried there will be a problem and the outcome won’t be good. $4.00 for a bottle of water; that was a...
Read moreIt is unfortunate to say that safety and customer service is not a priority at Urban Air Gainesville. I have visited on multiple occasions purchasing the monthly membership which I have since cancelled. Here are my main concerns:
Front staff is talking to each other instead of helping clients and moving the line. The lines are hard to follow and no one is directing you where to go. No one monitors kids coming in and out of the jungle gym and many older kids are let in when clearly above the cut off height. This scares little kids as big kids are running all over and could easily knock little kids down. Safety concern. No one monitors the kids jumping on the trampoline. Kids are sitting or laying on the trampolines in groups playing on their phones. Kids are running around jumping between multiple Mats without seeing who is next to them. Even though flips are not allowed there is no one to control this. Safety concern. Dodgeball had 4 employees just sitting inside and chatting instead of letting people in or out. No control over who can play and who has to wait in line. Obstacle courses was not controlled at the beginning or the end and kids would just stay in the ball pit instead of getting back in line. Big kids would jump in with no regard for little kids throwing balls all over the place. Even though there were employees at both the front and back of this place they did nothing to ensure safety.
I regret to say that this place needs a lot of work with their employees for their safety and the safety of the guests. This needs to be taken seriously before someone gets really hurt.
Empower your employees to keep order and give them whistles to get the attention of the kids that are getting out of line or playing too rough.
Make sure the employees and guests are having fun. Would love to see some improvements in the future. Sorry for the rant and hope this post can be used as...
Read moreI am sitting here right now on my 2nd day here and this place blows me away. First off, am so glad we have a family friendly place here on this side of the county. As soon as you walk in, you can feel the excitement, the vibe, and the fun it holds. There's someone at the door to greet you and answer any questions you have. Two separate desks one for members and one for buying a day pass which helps expedite the check in. The staff are all fun, polite, patient, and lively. I have ten year old boy girl twins who are completely opposite but both agree this is the place to go and have fun. It has been super clean both times and I always see at least one worker going around sweeping and wiping down tables staying on top of things. Since we got a membership of $20 a month each kid, they get to come here as many times as they want, do every attractions that exists here, get a free slice of pizza, and a bag of popcorn at each visit. Telling you, that's a good price for all that. They have a biplane, sky obstacle course, multiple different types of walls to climb, a ninja course, trampoline pads, bumper cars (a couple flip around!), laser tag, tot lot, food bar, and plenty of seating for parents. The pizza they get at each visit is so good and the popcorn is yummy. The lighting is great, lots of colored lights with dim fun and as someone who has night blindness, I can still see well enough to get around. I know the dream team, Jalissa and Donte got this up and running despite all the obstacles they faced and it was worth the wait. Staff top notch. Attraction amazing. Food awesome. Smiles everywhere priceless. Already booked a birthday party here next month. Will review...
