I LOVE this restaurant. You can see them making their food right at the till, with a little grill, and yet, despite not being frozen or prepackaged, I cannot consistently rely on the food being fantastic each and every single time. If you come in dinner and order the chicken platter(my go to dish, and one of my all time favorites) you get 8 pieces of chicken which is a lot of food. I like to order some naan on the side as well, and I find that makes the dish amazing. This place also provides a large helping of rice with the platter, and I usually find that restaurants that provide rice on the side are doing it as some sort of filler so the platter seems more filling. Not this restaurant. The rice is surprising flavorful for its normal color, but I definitely recommend this place. The mint chutney and white sauce are absolutely fantastic as well, and while you don’t get a ton of them initially you can always ask for more containers of the sauce. This place is great if you eat chicken or other meats but do not come if you cannot eat meat because you will have at most 2-3 dishes, most of which are considered sides to an...

I found this place by mistake and I'm very happy that happen to me. Let me tell you why I'm happy to find this place, the food is amazing, the bread is hot, soft and very good (I can just eat every day if I can) it's doesn't matter if you take it home or eat it at the restaurant, it's always hot and soft. I made a mistake when I didn't tell the guy what type of rice I want, he gave me white and when I said "oh I want brown" he didn't get mad he just took the white rice off and gave me the brown rice all with a smile and kindness to go with it. I place my order, went out to take a call, I believe I was gone for like 20 minutes give or take, when I got back he made sure my food was still hot, bread still hot I love him for that. And by the way it's doesn't hurt that there prices are a little cheaper than the one in Haymarket. I have been to the one in the Haymarket and I wasn't impressed at all. And they're not friendly at all. Don't take my word for it, just go there and find out for yourself, you won't be disappointed, if nothing else the guy's smile and friendliness will...

No one with Self Esteem would want to go there, no matter how good their food is.

I thought I was the only person who felt the people are rude here - I now see a whole bunch of people saying the same in these reviews. Went there after a very long time for the second time - the experience was 'exactly a repeat' of the first one. The cashier made us feel so uncomfortable, and was rushing us to order - made us feel as if we were giving him a great deal of trouble by placing an order. We were told to wait for 15-20 mins. We did not get the order delivered after 30 mins and when asked, all we got was a rude and blunt reply, "Wait".

When we were back home, we found that one item we ordered was missing (of course he missed it while ordering and we didn't pay). We called to tell us our concern (this happened both times) and hung up after witnessing a testimony of 'how not to talk to Anyone'. He need not have owned up to his mistake, but to my shock told me it's my fault for not...

Afghan famous kabob is the best Afghan food my boyfriend and I have found in NOVA, we can’t stop coming back. The food here is insanely delicious and everything is always cooked to perfection. We both live in Reston and have tried so many kabob places around us but nothing lives up to this quality and flavor. My boyfriend always gets the super combo or deluxe combo and enjoys the meat quality and tenderness. We both love the chickpeas and bread. I’m vegetarian so I love the vegetarian combo which comes with pumpkin, chickpeas, spinach and eggplant with yogurt. It’s incredibly flavorful. If you come here, don’t miss the special green sauce (their chutney). We always get a big container to bring home. We can’t find a green sauce from another restaurant that comes close to comparing. You need to come here !!!!!

Been going to this place for over a decade now, and it has consistently delivered excellent food at reasonable prices. I've tried countless times to replicate some of these dishes at home, especially the naan, but nothing beats the real thing. All of the kabobs are outstanding, but don't sleep on the rice and chickpeas. Nothing beats scooping up a bit of each with a tear of naan and dousing it in the chutney, which is spicier than you think and provides exactly the kick you want. I no longer live in NoVa, but Afghan Famous is the first place I go anytime I'm back.
