As a parent, who has utilized the Idaho Odyssey empowering parents program, and who’s used Boise computer depot as a preferred vendor, I would like to make not only a statement of facts about their customer service, their pricing and they’re availability, but I’d also like to touch base on the ethical and moral foundation of this company. After utilizing Boise computer depot for my Odyssey funding, to purchase a high-end desktop for my son, who is very advanced, and prefers coding and engineering programs to do in his spare time which enhances his odds of success, educationally speaking as he grows older, I’d like to share my experience. Boise computer depot has gone above and beyond in previous years and excelled in customer service, communication and helping parents along the way while participating in this program for all of the right reasons. Instead of creating a 50% to 250% markup on the items that they sell, they are the ONLY vendor that I have encountered that has actually priced things according to their value as well as make sure that it is age-appropriate and functional in the ways that the child could utilize.
EXAMPLE 2024 purchases for the 2023 applications for Odyssey. The vendors that are on there have markups such as the only laptop left after having funding available from maybe three days, you can purchase at Walmart for $299 and it comes with three times as much storage if not more, but when purchasing through Odyssey this year through the OTHER (NOT Boise computer depot)vendors, it was listed for over $400 before tax with only 32 gigs of storage. BOISE computer depot on the other hand last year not only spoke to me on the phone since they have a dedicated customer service line and multiple representatives, ready to help, they did a questionnaire with me to get to know my child, better, not me, my child! My child’s needs, capabilities, hopes and dreams, were and are a key factor in providing the necessary equipment to give him the best opportunity! They were able to find a reduced cost PC tower. That elsewhere would’ve cost $1499 before tax, but not through the Boise computer depot! They knew we only had $1050 that was granted for that specific child, so they found one that not only fit the budget, his needs and his interests but they found equipment that excelled where he excels! The Boise Computer Depot were also able to find it at a reduced cost, and in turn get us a Microsoft office package included! if you’re looking for a company that is doing program programs or just simply operating a business for all of the right reasons, it’s Boise computer depot! If anyone has any questions, comments or concerns, go ahead and comment directly here leave your comment question or concern below, and I am making it my personal duty to help be the middleman to get you to the right person you need! I take my Google reviews very seriously, I don’t utilize it to bash or make friends. I suppose that could be a leading reason as to why I’m in the top 10% nationally so please if you’ve gotten this far in the review, maybe you’re not even looking to utilize odyssey funding for your children, if you’re looking simply just for computers, accessories, etc., make sure you reach out to the Boise Computer Depot they have...
Read moreI always seem to have a "good" (lowercase) experience whenever I buy any electronics or computer related items, but today was different. I distinctly had one of those "GREAT" (now uppercase) experiences.
And here's why,
About a week ago one of my friends bought me a new PC...
The end.
No just kidding, I'll finish my story.
This new PC wasn't just any PC though. It was the first PC that was ever truly mine. My family has had a computer in the house ever since I was a kid. But it was always a shared kinda thing and I couldn't mess around and tinker with it and possibly break it to my curiosity's content. I had also had a couple of laptops but I was always close to broke when I got them and so I didn't want to treat them so poorly. This one was brand spanking new and I could do whatever I wanted with it.
With my curiosity probably getting the best if me, I knew just what I wanted to do first...
That's right go for a test drive on the dark web.
You probably didn't see that comming!
This computer had no ties to me whatsoever. It was a clean slate. What could a virus or a hacker possibly take or destroy in relation to me.
Wait for it...
You guessed it.
Low and behold... I got a virus. Pretty quickly too I might add.
Anyways once I got one. I wasn't ti keen on getting more or even more dangerous ones. So I looked on YouTube to find out what I needed to do to wipe the drive and set things straight once more... or... maybe for a short time at least.
So I asked my friend where he got the computer to begin with. He told me it was from a guy named Brad at the "Boise Computer Depot".
I take the computer in looking for a guy named "Brad". A beautiful young lady at the front tells me it was probably "Rob" (the owner).
Perfect, now the best (parts)!
I tell Rob what happened, expecting and preparing to pay some $100 to $200 for the wipe and replacement of all the windows software. To be honest, I didn't have any idea of what it might cost. He then told me the price. You might not believe it, but it was under $50 easy. I was impressed and happy at this point. He also informed me that it would only take a few minutes. So he could do it while I wait.
Notice how I perinthisized "parts"?
While we were waiting, we got to talking about linux software's. And I asked him what it would take to get another computer to run linux as well. Turns out I was complicating it too much. All I needed was another harddrive not a whole computer. He then got me another solid state harddrive installed it for me right next to my windows one and now I basically have two computers in one.
Oh wait, guess what...
It was only $50 bucks as well.
All I can say is Rob was fantastic guys and gals! Dont hesitate to get his help on anything. He's got...
Read moreFor several years I was a faithful customer of a computer store in Boise that is now out of business. Searching for another computer store I started reading reviews. I like to read negative reviews and see how the company replies to them. I loved Boise Computer Depot's responses to negative reviews. Obviously, they wait until someone on their staff has a cool head about them before they reply. Then, with amazing details, they explain what happened from their point of view and even give advice on how to go to a competitor to get what is wanted. I found the staff I worked with wonderfully helpful and they advised me how to get what I wanted at the best price even though that meant I had to go to a competitor for exactly what I wanted. I loved how they opened up computers for me so I could see for myself the differences in the quality of what they sold. I bought a laptop several weeks ago and waited until now to write a review just incase something went wrong with my purchase. Unfortunately, something did go wrong. I returned it and immediately they diagnosed the problem and corrected it. At 75, I have learned by sad experience that this modern computerized world is so complicated that it is impossible for things to work out perfectly all the time. I really don't get upset when something goes wrong and see it as a test to see how quickly a company makes it right when something goes wrong. I am pleased to find a new computer store after the one I used went out of business. I highly recommend...
