went to Regal Cinemas Garden Grove 16 on August 7,2015 for my husbands birthday, mind you we planned this for weeks, to watch Fantastic 4 on its opening day. My husband and I paid for the tickets and we walked in and to our surprise was stopped by this Hired security guard person who sat at the mouth of the entry way and said "You CAN'T come in with your back pack", which was really my purse.
We then turn to the this other person who seem to be in charge, Manager, and he then stops talking to whom ever he was talking to and said with GREAT conviction "No back pach due to all the shotings that have been going on lately". My husband and I then turned and looked at each other wit bewilderment on our faces and said "WHAT!"... well in short we traveled their on transit via bus. The security guard then says "Don't you have a car, just put them in your trunk" insulted highly by now cause as surely as they where for us not to make it pass with our "pack backs/purse" a Caucsian man walks by,with popcorn in hand, that made it pass GUARD with permission. I spot the man and points at him and say "Look he has a pack back on" and the Manager who at this time is giving our money back for tickets says "Oh yeah i'm about to kick him out right now" my husband then replies how did he make it in that far?" I reply with "Thats a pretty good question" there was only one way in and that was passing thru the security guard and manager......moral of story if your black with back packs don't go to this theater........we went to AMC at OUTLETS at ORANGE much better.......we told the MANAGER that we would be going to OUTLETS at ORANGE AMC and he said while handing our money back that they don't let people in with back packs either. Well manager guy we walked in with...

Please begin double checking movie stubs/tickets at both theater halls.
Out of the 6 times I have gone this month, 5 of those times have had people (typical dude in black hoodie, khaki pants, white sneakers) sneak into the movie and take other people's seats. Has happened to me 3 times already and the other 2 times saw it happen to others.
Once saw "those" types of guys (group of 5) come in loudly, take up center left row. A family then came in, confronted them that those were their seats, then the guys got up loudly and go to a row above them. Another group came and confronted them again about the seats. The guys got up again and walked to the very front rows A or B and continue to talk throught the first 10 min of the screening.
LOVE THAT THIS THEATER HAS ALL RECLINING SEATS and they DONT charge extra. All the other locations I have gone to have some reclining seats, but they charge extra. The cost comes up as a premium charge (Yorba Linda Regal) and sometimes just have to buy VIP tickets (Irvine Spectrum).
If it wasn't for Regal Garden Grove being the closest Regal to me, I would have cancelled my Regal Unlimited plan and gone to AMC since it is MUCH closer to me. Also they don't charge you for "Premiums" (reclining seats, 3D, IMAX, 4DX) if you have their...

So we visited last week to see a Marvel film. It was that Dr Strange movie. So...about 30 minutes in- the queen of darkness herself- Elvira shows up. Who knew she had superpowers all along?! Anyways, Stange is played by Bronson Pinchot (and yeah...he uses the Balki accent- if you know, you know..) and they both work together to close the multimeter or verse or whatever and they almost fail... but you know how these things always play out. I'm not going to spoil this film for you any further.
In all seriousness- this theater has been a staple in my life for a few decades now. The seats need to be replaced entirely, they're gross. But once you get over that and get into the screen- you hardly notice the fact that the original seat coating is completely gone. At least they still recline! When I saw Strange, we had to tell the dude next to us to put his phone away about 15m in. That kinda sucked.
The food is good as always, someday I'll get booze that's offered at the separate bar to the right of snacks. They're offering for a limited time a popcorn bucket and collecter topper cup. I think I spent just under 30 bucks for that and after nachos and whatever else my wife ordered, it was about $50. Good value for a 2 hour time burner.
