Planet Fitness — Attraction in Gastonia

Been going to this gym for about a year now, and I love it. It has plenty of equipment, and usually duplicates of most machines so that you almost always can workout without having to wait on a machine.

I do have a couple issues though-one is that I don’t think staff patrol the smith machine area often enough. I’m usually there for about 2 hours and I’ve notice that I really don’t see staff leaving the front desk area often. As a result-I do notice that weights that aren’t racked by (rude) guests are often left that way for my entire 2 hour workout. And that often deters others from using those machines. Or dumbbells/plates will be left out in the auxiliary rooms. A hourly patrol around the whole facility from staff should be a simple enough thing so they can correct these minor issues.

Another issue I have is a planet fitness wide one. And that’s simply that I would love to see some free weights eventually at these gyms. The smith machines are only really good for select upper body routines. They can be awful for your hips and overall balance for workouts like squats-especially at higher weights. I know it’s meant to keep things safer/beginner friendly(and ward off extra buff people who scare the beginners), but these machines hinder people from getting as effective of a workout as they could with free-weight racks. Not sure this will ever change with PF, but I figured it would be worth mentioning just to be another voice to the pile of people...

I really love this gym for a lot of reasons. The staff are friendly, and it feels good seeing the same people around the same times. I obviously would prefer to have a squat rack but the smith machine is OK. The reason I gave a three star review is primarily because of dress code, and the Inappropriate content on the TVs. For some reason The no sports bra rule isn’t being enforced. I have always liked going to planet fitness because I felt like I could be myself as a husband and a father and not uncomfortable being around people showing too much skin. I would really like the dress code to be enforced again. The issue I have with the shows, music videos played on the TV is that they show so much raunchy, nasty I would really like the dress code to be enforced again. My goal is to get in shape, serve the Lord, and become a better person. Because of these issues, I am considering going to a different gym that lines up more with my values. I understand that the motto his judgment free zone and I like that, there needs to be a standard when it comes to content played on all the TVs. Most of the time I can focus and try not to look at the TVs, but I know people who attend this gym who have also had the same issue. Please change this, because I really like...

Been going to gastonia pf for about 30 days. Never once has anyone asked me if i had eye gear for the tan bed. And especially no one telling me i have to dig it out and show them. Well today the rude little girl at the front desk did. She said it was the law. Then then manager chimed in and said. It was the law. No one including this manager whom had sent me back into a bed several times ever asked me. So naturally i asked, yall been breaking the law every time ive been coming? No. Well if its the law and no one asked,Then u r breaking the law. He said its company policy. So you've been breaking company policy? No. What???? I asked for district manager name and number and was told i could not have that information. So before i could leave im getting a phone call from a woman saying she is regional manager. I tell her. She said that perhaps they could train better and threatened to cancel my membership without a refund. She said im non compliant. So your employees are not trained properly and its the customers fault.? Im saying the only way they cancel my membership is with a full refund and bet i get someone at corporate tomorrow. If thats managements solution, I can see why no one is...
