Yummy Crab — Restaurant in Gastonia

CUSTOMER SERVICE: 10/20/20 - Called-in order for pick-up. From the start customer service was GREAT!

The CSR who answered the phone was very pleasant & professional. She asked me to hang in there as it was her 1st day. That was okay because I wanted someone that was going to take their time & get my order correct vs. rushing & getting it wrong. While it may take extra minutes for accuracy, it will take double that to fix errors!

They confirmed my order with accuracy & told me to make my way; my food would be ready when I arrived. I was shocked @ the quick service since they didn't know where I was coming from; I quickly said, "I hope HOT & ready!?

I was greeted by the CSR who took my order & the front end manager (I didn't catch her name; but she too was very pleasant). My order was ready just like they said. The manager went over my order, & made sure I had all the condiments I needed.

FAMILY ORDER - PRICING, QUALITY & TASTE:

The lunch Snow Crab Leg Boil: 1 cluster (1/2lb), 1 corn, 2 potatoes and 1 egg - $13.00 *It was an okay price for what you would get; however it would have been WORTH it had one of my crab legs not been missing and if the other remaining legs were meaty!

The crab legs seemed as if they were cooked to long, set aside and then heated back up. Meaning, when I cracked opened the legs, the meat did not slide out (I'm a professional when it comes to crabs; I know what I'm doing) :-) The meat was stuck to the insides of the legs and in certain spots the crab meat was lukewarm. Now I know you are probably thinking that maybe it cooled down in transit. While that can definitely happen, that was not the case. The crabs were in the plastic bag with the sauce. The sauce, egg and potatoes were steaming hot as if it just came out, not as if it cooled off on the 12 minute ride back home. The crab tasted as if it was just boiled in water; just plain. It had a supermarket frozen type taste instead of a fresh seafood market place that you expect to get when eating seafood. BUT.....But, but, but.... When you dip the meat in the sauce, you do get GOOD flavor. Very light, delicate, nothing overpowering; very well balanced flavor. The flavor I had was "All Mixed" and the spicy level was "Mild". The flavor made the crab shine a little bit then what it was. The potato was tender, not mushy and the egg tasted like it was boiled, peeled and then set in water until ready to be reheated; rubby tasting. Not to bad of a taste, just not really fresh. Like if you boiled and peeled it in the morning but it sat in water all day until you got home later and reboiled it to heat it up. Corn was on point, nice sweet and tender.

Fried Flounder Basket (4pcs) w/ Fries: $12 (this item Is not offered on the lunch menu).The fries were on point and delicious but the flounder.... big FAIL!!!! The flounder was not fresh, you can tell it was supermarket frozen fish and not fresh frozen fish. You know when supermarket's freeze seafood and other meats, it's frozen differently in order to preserve the meat. Not really a bad thing but kind of disappointing when you are looking for seafood level freshness. Also the containers that they placed the fish & fries in is nice BUT it sweats on the inside making your fried food soggy. The fish batter was wet which also affected the taste of the seasoned batter; it made it bland on top of the fish itself not being seasoned.

Chicken Wings (6pcs) Fried/Lemon Pepper - $6 - I'm a flats girl :-) My order was all drums. I was looking for a mixture of both but nope.... :-) The flavor was okay because again the container sweat had the chicken a little wet, the lemon pepper seasoning overpowered the blandness. It was good over all.

Combo Fried Basket C - $13 Again, the sweat container made food wet and taste bland.

My excitement level is not where it was after tasting the food. If I want seafood and don't feel like cooking it, I would probably order from here again on a...

It all started when we called and I guess the line was tied up so I was asked to be placed on hold by this very nice young man and no more than 10 seconds later I was greeted again this time by a lady and she was great we ordered a total of 3 yummy crab boils and some fried baskets. The lady on the phone seemed to no exactly what we wanted and had suggested a great flavour for our bags and it wasn't salty at all. I mentioned the last time I came I had stopped in for the lunch special and my seafood bag was a little on the salty side but still good so she recommended trying Cajun and Garlic Butter together and to pick our own spicy level. We also ordered fried basket B which was calamari oysters and shrimp she then asked me what kind of sauce for that one so I asked what they had and she told me and recommended that we try marinara sauce for the calamari and wow am I glad she did it was amazing. We also had a flounder basket and a chicken tender basket and both was also very good. The lady then went over my order with me. Apon arriving to pick up my order the gentleman in the window was busy helping another customer but as soon as he was done assisting them he then gestures it was my turn to approach the window. He then askes me for the last four numbers of my phone number so he could locate my order on the screen he then pulled up my order and yelled a number to another employee to see if the order was complete or not. My order was actually being bagged as they were communicating about how long till the order was ready and as I was paying for my order the lady came over to the window to ask about a dipping sauce for the tenders as I do recall her asking me on the phone but I don't remember answering her. Wow what a great team the two of them are together. I thanked the both of them for being so wonderful to me and for their names so they can asist me with taking my order. So thanks for mailing out the coupons I would have came back for lunch but not for a large to go dinner for my family we would have waited on the dining room before getting that much food.. But the way they bag the boils the food stays hot and fresh but not so much the fried food and I believe they just need better to go containers for those due to them sweating real bad. I can honestly say Amanda is by far one of the best front of the house managers I have yet to come across and the young man with her that night has impeccable customer service skill. Can't wait to be able...

When you walk in, the smell takes you back to the Intercoastal Waterway. Minus the salt air and summer breezes. So, essentially, dead rotting fish. Not a pleasant smell. A raw fish market smells 10X better. They have even added a disclaimer on the menu, "NO REFUNDS ON FOOD." The smell and the menu were both warnings to leave. But, I was with a senior parent that really wanted to try it. BUT things were much better when my Flounder came out and I questioned why my Flounder had so much dark meat and tasted nothing like Flounder. The server explained it was "Their Flounder." When I asked if "Their Flounder" was actually Flounder, I simply got a blank look as a response. This explains the disclaimer on the menu. BUT inspite of the disclaimer, the server did offer to remove the charge for the "Flounder." But since I was warned on the menu, I did not ask or accept the offer to remove the charge from the bill. I did take it home and offered it to my dog. I know Flounder. It's a a very white flaky fish. I was served a dense fish with lots a dark meat with a terrible taste. Hint: it was not Flounder. But at least the aroma made up for the misrepresented...
