I can't help but notice how many dead and sick trees there are in our parks. Four more were cut down again today which makes this years total about a dozen. Seems smarter to treat the trees, they have canker or something. The bark is completely seperating from the trees. It takes a long time to grow shade in a park in our heat and yet it is sorely needed. The ground is also prolific with goat head thorns which make up 50 percent of the grassy area. These thorns can cause bad infections, but right next to childrens play areas. I question the methods of park maintenance. Treat the trees, and have a crew keep up with the weeds and not with poison. It only takes an hour a week to use a hand weeder to pull them out. Probably much cheaper and much nicer. In fact there are tons more trees dying all around val vista lakes. Is there an expense report we can see?

Had a small safety concern at a green belt near my home. The ranger I spoke with headed out there immediately and said even if it was not something that parks and rec would fix he would put up a barricade or warning. I wish I could remember his name because he deserves recognition. Not even 20 minutes later he called me back to let me know he was at the park and fixing the issue. It is nice to know the Town of Gilbert cares about our safety and will take action quickly...

Did the bicycle trails yesterday. First timer from Minnesota. They are OK. The stop sign at Leslie is covered with branches, so hard to see.

We crossed Mesquite on a North South trail (Eastern Canal) and we got to a neighborhood called Farnsworth as I recall and the sign said no motorized devices, no skateboards and NO bicycles, yet it was part of the City trail. What gives?

The trail map on the web is VERY hard to read.

A few benches along the way would be...
