DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS HERE!!
I was on a mission to find somewhere for puppies to go for daycare and boarding during Fourth of July.
When I went to tour this place the girl was very nice and explained a lot, but couldn’t take me to the back area due to C19, which is fine. As I left, I spoke to two regulars who said their dogs LOVED it! So I decided to try it.
I called and scheduled a temperament test and took my two puppies in. That morning I walked in, I explained that one of my girls is a bit nervous, but as she warms up she LOVES to play and is very active. They took one puppy in at a time which was nice to see my nervous one see her sister as she walked in and felt ok. So I left! Gave my family the password to the cameras and I had them going the whole time as I worked.
During their time there I noticed my one was trying to play with other dogs, but ended up trying to herd the dog (no biting just barking and lots of paw action). But yet I did not see a daycare worker around to redirect her. My puppies are a year old, they need to be redirection. I understand it!
Then my puppies disappeared from the camera, but every so often I thought I saw their legs so I just thought they were playing off camera with someone.
About 2hrs or so later I get a call and the lady tells me that they had to put one of my puppies in another area because of her trying to herding other dogs. I understood it and we discussed that when boarding there they would work on training with her and she’ll have plenty of play time alone and with her sister. I thought that sounds good she will be ok with that.
15 minutes later I stepped inside to pick up the puppies and there were others in the area with me. One guy checked in to pick up his dog and we all thought the lady went to go get the puppy, but never came back. The other lady said ‘please excuse me, there is a situation I am needed for’ and left the front desk. Well I stepped up to look through the window to find my puppies…it was not hard. There are three areas dogs could be. Two of them are big play areas, the third is the section to walk the puppies outside. My nervous one was locked in there, by herself, with her sister laying in the big area next to the cage not playing.
I saw one employee in there, a male, who was in the big dog section. There was NO ONE with the small dogs. Then as one lady was searching for something, she asked the male to come hold my dog back. He had a leash in his hands and doubled it up and placed around my puppies neck. She didn’t like it and neither did I. I held my tears in. He looked at the “one way mirror” like he saw me watching and I felt that he then loosened the leash.
Finally they gave me puppies, I ran outside with them to the car, the other guy still did not have his dog.
My nervous puppy usually sits up front with me, she wouldn’t come near me. I knew she was not happy! My other happy puppy sat down in the backseat, usually she is jumping all over and excited after daycare.
I cried the whole way home and kept apologizing to my puppies for the way I saw them treated.
This place hurt my heart and I waited until I took a breath before posting this (2 weeks to breath and deescalate my feeling towards this place before writing this).
**I have taken my puppies to a new daycare that understand them and have been nothing but honest with me when they said they had to redirect my puppies but the kicker is, they said ‘when they did it, we redirected then and the puppies listened’…. Isn’t that something! The best part is, my puppies are coming home...
Read moreWe absolutely loved and continue to love our experience with Paw Commons, Gilbert. Our little maltipoo Logan, was an extremely anxious pup that struggled badly with separation anxiety. I reached out to Paw Commons and received a call back within 24 hours! They were extremely kind and informative and scheduled us in right away for a meet and greet.
My husband and I were very apprehensive to even explore this kind of training for our little guy because of the length of time he’d be away. We met, Russell and he instantly put us at ease. He took his time and listened to what our wants, desires and needs were for Logan. With Russell’s recommendation we opted for the 4 week training program. We were so anxious and nervous to leave our fur baby for so long but Russell and the team really made the HUGE difference for us. Russell was and is Logans trainer. He kept us super informed with constant videos, photos and real time updates on our little guy. The doggy cams are also super helpful because as a dog owner I was interested in seeing the staffs daily interactions with the pups, needless to say all staff was kind and loving to all of the pups in the play yard. This really put us is at ease. The staff maintains the yard clean and loves on these pups by petting, holding and playing with them! I loved seeing that!! Russell even drove our little guy to the vet for one of his vaccines that he needed to get! He was so gracious and kind and updated us every step of the way there! I can not say enough great things!
We received daily reports on how Logan’s training was going and what they were working on. Russell was always responsive and communicated effectively with us! At the end of the 4 weeks, we can confidently say that Logans anxious behaviors have diminished GREATLY!
Russell was extremely kind and patient with our fur baby and spent quality time training him and it shows! Our little guy loves to play and be around other dogs now, listens actively to our commands, can self regulate his own anxious feelings and walks on his leash with little to no pulling! We continue training with Russell and it makes us so happy to see our little guy branch out and be so much less anxious! Thank you Russell for all your time and commitment you put into our little guy! Your heart and passion for these pups is apparent! Try it out!! Highly recommend Paw Commons in Gilbert. What an amazing investment for our little ones quality of life! Attached are some of the photos we received while our little guy was in “school”! He was so happy and thriving making so many doggy friends! It made my momma heart burst of happiness seeing our once shy and nervous little guy let loose and play! Logan will be returning for some fun daycare days because his bond with his trainer and staff is so precious and so evident to us! Thank you Paw Commons, especially Russell for everything you’ve done for our...
Read moreI would give them all the stars if I could. We have two small pups with separation anxiety, who had previously only ever stayed with family when we travelled. We needed to go out of town for a family wedding, so there was no family left in town to watch the dogs this time. Our pups stayed for four nights. Our youngest pup has some trauma and isn’t the quickest to warm up to men, or the most social. We are your typical “our dogs are our kids” type couple so we wanted a place that we could feel really good about leaving them. They took AMAZING care of our pups. By the time we came to pick them up - our youngest was loving all the handlers, even the men, and both pups were happily socializing with other dogs in the play yard daily. The peace of mind provided by the near daily report cards, photos, and video feeds truly made our vacation SO much more enjoyable. It felt like they really treated our dogs as their own. This is where we will be going for any doggy daycare or training needs going forward, and we’ve already been recommending this location to all of our family and friends.
I wanted to also be sure to specifically mention Cade & Lindsay (sp?) as they are the two employees we interacted with the most and they went absolutely above and beyond.
The ONLY possible feedback I could give is that I wish we’d had a better understanding of what we paid when we booked vs when we picked up. We booked a package & thought we’d paid for everything up front, but did have a balance when we picked up. HOWEVER - this is partially on US, and it was still more than worth it. Just mentioning this for others to keep in mind so they don’t make our same oopsie!
UPDATE 10/11/25: ANOTHER 5 star stay from us. We went on a 6 night cruise out of country this time. Without much service we had to trust where we left our pups even MORE. This Paw Commons location was once again fantastic. We let them know it would be difficult to call so they should text if needed - and they did. When we called to book our pups stay they were excited to have them back. When we were at port and had signal checking the cams was fun & gave us peace of mind. We were worried we wouldn’t make it to pick our pups up before closing time and they even accommodated us in that aspect!
Update 11/03/25: our pups only spent the weekend this time. We were slightly nervous bc our 3yo cracked her molar on a toy, though she seemed unphased tbh. We left “as needed” meds and they monitored and gave them to her once when they noticed a slight change. Each time we take our pups they seem more ok with going, and each time we book them the staff seems more excited to have them back. Our dogs will likely permanently be staying...
