The Tragedy of Salad and Go; An introspective analysis of food cost & portion control.
Hear me out, this truly used to be the best option for a quick and healthy meal during lunch. S&G's menu was often unparalleled in their salad selection, but to top it off, their best item wasn't even a salad. It was a wrap. This may seem dramatic, crass, unnecessary. Whatever you want to describe my complaint as so be it, I do not care. There has been a monumental internal change inside of the corporate structure of S&G within the last few months and I CANNOT be the only person who has noticed this. To be completely honest, they are still a decent healthy option; but since they decided to cut their portions in half (Yes, in HALF), it is my time to shine some light on this.
A conspiracy theory? Maybe. A way to cut back on costs in a declining market using the cheapest ingredients as well as exploiting the best known form of income known to fast food A.K.A the Drive Through? Absolutely. I see through you Salad and Go. I worked in the food industry for over 7 years and it is no mystery to me why you cut the wrap portions in half. It would be over dramatic to call this an injustice, actually it would be quite humorous, but the result of your actions is the loss of a customer. Normally this wouldn't matter, one customer so what? However, this is why I have come armed with my Literary and Cinematic analysis skills at the ready Salad & Go. No longer will you pretend that those wraps have the same content of food in them as the salads you base your name off of. No longer will you charge MORE for less on your menu. I see through you Salad & Go. I am disgusted.
However, on a less Ironic note, this is honestly pretty bad. There's no reason to go here for the wraps anymore and they might as well take them off the menu. I tried going back count it, 7 times, to give them another chance but they fail spectacularly every single time without missing a beat. I won't even mention the countless times this establishment has straight up misunderstood or made my order incorrectly. I have receipts and refunds from Uber eats to prove this, and it isn't purely anecdotal. There's no way I could have a bad experience at a restaurant 7 times in a row, but here we are. I may be the silent minority, but I am sure there are many others who feel the same way as I do Salad & Go. Please fix the wraps, and I...
Read moreI've been coming to this location for years now and, on their best day, they're lackluster. On a day like today, they've made me never want to buy anything from ANY Salad and Go ever again.
I've lost count of the number of times I've paid extra for avocado only to get to my destination and discover it wasn't there. Let them know the next morning when I order on my way in to work again and nothing but an apology is offered. No giving me my avocado for free on the order I'm making today, no refund, just an "oh, sorry about that." Cool. Just so we're clear, that's theft. And a good amount of the time that pricey quarter of an avocado is brown and gross looking, something I'd throw away if I was at home. It's annoying but not worth my writing a bad review.
But today...yeah I'm tired of this place and upset enough to write about it. I ordered on the app and showed up to the pick up window three minutes before my order was supposed to be ready. I get told it will be ready shortly. Cool. I wait. And wait...and wait...and wait some more. Two other people show up to get their online orders and are handed their food and the same girl that said mine would be ready shortly doesn't even address me. So I stand there, continuing to be ignored while half a dozen other people get their stuff. After realizing I've been waiting here for ten minutes and it's now well past the time my order was supposed to be ready, I finally decide to go to the drive thru thinking "they can't ignore me there." When I get to the speaker I get told someone came out to give me my order and I wasn't there. Um. No. No one came out. I was watching the window while I waited for my turn at the speaker. No one even stuck their head out the window. Again, no apology offered, no comp, just a defensive argument as if I'm the one who's screwing up.
I get that mistakes happen and I'm super forgiving but I've given this place so many chances to correct those mistakes and they're simply not interested in taking care of their customers. I'm disgusted by the amount of business I've given to this location and how much BS I've been tolerant of over the years and today's the last time I'll order anything here. I will go out of my way to order at a location that doesn't steal from me or make me...
Read moreI pre ordered my 1 wrap online before leaving work and got a confirmation it would be done at 1:25. I get there right on time. I go to the mobile pick up line and am told it shouldn’t be too long. I proceed to wait, and wait, and wait. I literally watch almost 30 cars in the drive through get their food before me and drive off. I ask where my food is 15minutes later and am told they are short staffed. As calmly as I can, I ask for my food to be made as it’s way past time and I’m watching people zip away on the other line. I explain I have patients and work to get back to on time and they proceed to tell me the drive through takes priority. 10 minutes go by and I try to flag the girl down again and she completely ignores me. Almost 30 minutes total I waited for my ONE PRE ordered wrap. I almost got out of my car and walked through the drive through. I finally was able to flag someone else down who finally got me my wrap, eventually. I work on healthcare, I know what being short staffed feels like. But that was ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE protocol to completely ignore mobile app pre orders to take care of just the drive through. If the business can’t handle the pre orders or won’t staff appropriately, don’t do it. Or make the ability to shut off the pre order option per location like other companies do. I will never be returning and definitely will be sharing...
