IT'S BEEN ALMOST A YEAR SINCE I WROTE THE REVIEW BELOW, AND I AM LOVING THE LOFT EVEN MORE SO I WANTED TO UPDATE MY REVIEW :)
UNTIL RECENTLY, MY SOLE FOCUS HAS ALWAYS BEEN ON SILKS. BUT THROUGH THE ENCOURAGEMENT OF MY AERIAL COMMUNITY AT THE LOFT, I WAS PROMPTED TO GIVE LYRA WITH JANE AND DANCE TRAPEZE WITH JENN A TRY.....AND I HAVE BEEN LOVING IT! THEY ARE BOTH SUCH SUPPORTIVE AND AMAZING INSTRUCTORS!!! NOW, DON'T GET ME WRONG, SILKS WILL ALWAYS BE MY #1, BUT I KNOW THAT CROSS TRAINING ON THESE HARD APPARATUSES WILL ONLY MAKE ME STRONGER AND THE INSTRUCTORS AND OTHER STUDENTS ARE JUST MAKING IT SO MUCH FUN!!!
ALSO WANT TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO SILKS INSTRUCTOR SHAUNA...SINCE MY LAST REVIEW I HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENJOY HER CLASS AS WELL. SHE IS THE SWEETEST, THE MOST PATIENT, AND BREAKS DOWN SEQUENCES REALLY, REALLY WELL.
I LOOK FORWARD TO CONTINUING TO GROW AT THE LOFT :)
I have been training aerial on and off for about 5 years. I have a private coach whom I love for one on ones, but I needed a new studio/group class environment to call home after reentering the world since the pandemic----and the Loft was it!!! My current focus is silks, and I love my classes with Kerry, Lydia, Kat and Amanda. It's great to have a variety of skilled instructors to experience....because they are each amazing and special in their own, unique way, and I learn and grow in different ways from each of them. And all of them have taken the time to get to know where I am at in my practice so that they can help me efficiently and safely.
My classmates have also been wonderful---I started aerial a little later in life, without any dance or gymnastics background, so sometimes I struggle a little more, and it may take me a little longer to get something, but everyone is so supportive and cheers me on.
The studio itself is a beautiful space with small class sizes. They also have a roll up door which is often kept open for fresh air when weather permits--so on nice days if kind of feels like you're outside :). And on not so nice days, when a/c or heat is needed, they have that too--I have learned that not all studios have temperature control--and this is definitely an...
Read moreRIGGING - If you’re at all concerned with your safety, rest assured The Loft is EXTREMELY SAFE.
Most people don’t understand or think twice about rigging in an aerial studio, they just assume everything is safe…. Unfortunately in OTHER studios I’ve seen and inspected it’s not.
I’m a contractor and also study and work with rigging, I know the structural integrity of different materials and what will materials work with certain load capacities.
Aside from being one of the few studios that are lucky enough to have steel I-beams with a truss system, the way their hard points are attached is extremely secure. However, they didn’t stop there. They added a safety line to those hard points as a backup just incase something were to happen.
The ropes and pulleys that are used are overkill and oversized and not even needed, so once again The Loft went above and beyond to ensure the safety of their students and all who walk through their doors.
Hopefully this brings reassurance to you and helps get any doubt out of your head if you are or would be safe here so you can enjoy the class from their amazing instructors.

Read moreFor the new and aerial curious: Womack and Bowman have a great variety of classes geared towards building strength and ability regardless of your current aerial skill or fitness. I highly recommend not just trying different apparatus' but also to take classes with different teachers. All the instructors are great at meeting their students with where they are at as well as ensuring that there is progress.
As like other circus communities, the instructors and students here are open minded about what success looks like. I feel like everyone acts as one another's personal cheering squad. Whether it's conquering a fear of a drop, building strength to finally get that straight arm straddle, or discovering a pose that just looks amazing on you- there will be people there to root you on or rally to help you up when you need it.
For the experienced aerialist - If you are looking for a place to train- come here! The class instruction is great, the ceiling height is generous, and the studio is well appropriated with multiple points, apparatus, and crash mats all within a clean and a...
