This park has a couple of really awesome areas. First and most noticeably is the play area. Which has three massive play gyms that are broken down into geared to specific age groups. One is ground level and shared like a fire truck for toddlers. The next gets the kids off off the ground a little bit and is for kids who want to get away from their parents but still lets the parents keep a good eye on the child. And the third is huge, letting the older kids run free with large slides and rock walls among other attractions.
Next to the play area is the enormous pavilion where events are usually held every weekend. They range from group get togethers to musical attractions and some other random events.
Then finally is the open field, which is something you don't see often at parks any more. The field is roughly a full football field with basketball courts that are kept in relatively good condition at the opposite end from the play gyms. The police come through on golf carts every once in a while just to check up on things. They now have a building with restrooms in the park. They have a few play areas complete with slides, swings, monkey bars, etc. They have a basketball court, a huge field for open play, paved walk way, a gazebo, and a Memorial for the Veterans. In the summer they usually have family friendly movies in the park and a few small festivals. This park is not dog friendly as they don't permit dogs. The park isn't skate board friendly either. Aside from strollers, they don't want any bikes, skates, scooters or skateboards. Parking is partly in the police station parking lot or on street parking. This is a residential area where there are people's houses facing two sides of the park and store fronts facing one side, and the last side facing the police station. Read moreVeterans Park in Gloucester Township, is located off Chewslanding Rd, right next to the Municipal Building and the Police Station. It's a well lit park. With public restrooms, a sizeable play area for children with slides, swings, jungle gyms and more. The play area is fenced in, making it easier to watch your children. A paved walking path around the circumstance of the park sees a lot of foot traffic from avid walkers and joggers. Benches dot the periphery, so if you want to stop and rest , they are always nearby. A basketball court is always in use. Summers at the park feature free movie nights and music, Gloucester Township Day is hosted at the Park--overflowing with entertainment, rides for the children, food, games, merchants and fireworks. The annual Christmas Tree Lighting is held here as well as Trunk or Treat at Halloween. A beautiful Gazebo is a focal point. It can be rented and reserved for special occasions.
