Stop & Shop — Attraction in Gloucester

My opinion... By far the best grocery store in Gloucester. First of all, the store is kept clean. Nothing worse than the place you buy your food being so dirty you don't want your kids touching the shelves. Second, The produce is ALWAYS fresh. I dont mean fresh the day you bring it home. Then the next day it's questionable. I mean fresh. Third, I've never gotten a cut of meat I was unhappy with. Also, same as produce, it's fresh. Forth, all employees are always nice. And very helpful. One time the guy in the meat dept. helped me find a tile and grout scrubber. He didnt wave me in the direction. He brought me to where I could find it. The prices might be a little bit higher. But if you use coupons and watch their sales, you can actually save more money than going anywhere else. Plus with the things I've listed above, I'd rather spend a couple extra bucks. Lastly, it's not over crowded. You won't bump into people in the isles. You won't wait in line more than a minute or 2. But with the Scan-It (my favorite part) you NEVER...

So disappointed in Stop & Shop.....I ordered my 24 lb. Butter Ball Turkey last Friday via telephone. I told them I would pick it up Monday (yesterday )...they took my name and the gentleman said he'd put in the refrigerator to start defrosting. Stop & Shop had a special...if you spent $25.00 you would only have to pay $1.39 a lb. WELL - I arrived yesterday around 5 pm- asked for the "bird"- gentleman looked and said there was nothing there for me in the backroom!!! I had to buy a frozen 19 bs. Butterball turkey from the bin. This man could of cared less- he mumbled something about "him being retired" and not really working there ?? Huh?? So much for ordering anything ahead of time....at...

The mistreatment of staff at the Gloucester location is unfathomable. Staff are abusive to one another. The training does not take place as it should. They bully and harass staff. The scheduling manager mistreats employees. They sweep all issues under the rug. Don't let your kid work here. It undermines their mental health and teaches them work environments are dysfunctional. It will make your kid sick after the staff bullies them. Their prices are astronomical on all and expiration dates expired on items all the time. The kids don't even know who the union reps are to get help. The union...
