The fro-yo there is just your basic fro-yo. Of course, it's tasty! The restaurant is very clean & organized. The selection of flavors, though, leave a lot to be desired. Half the flavor slots are empty, with most of the flavors being different types of vanilla. I've heard good and bad things about the cobbler, but I don't think anyone actually buys it. It's at the back of the cafe, like an afterthought. The topping station is plentiful, with my only gripe being at least one of the "twist to dispense" containers are stuck, which makes me wonder how old some of that stuff is... it's just candy, but still. The topping selection is what keeps me coming back. The service is definitely just barely there. I think the cashier just sits in the back all day, waiting for customers. When you walk in, they'll pop out from the back, greet you, then stand silently at the register, waiting for you to check out & leave. The cashiers I've interacted with are minimally cordial, kind of like robots. No hint of rudeness, but also not super friendly. The atmosphere gets a bonus for the checkers at the tables but takes a hit for lack of decoration or, really, any personality at all. All in all, this place is alright, but the name does it no favors, and I don't think it'll ever live up to the community pillar that was...
Read moreBeen coming here for a year and spend $30 to $50 a month .. regular customer. My mom and me go in to Purple Penguin and the lady waiting on us took my card I paid 8 times for yogurt and while at the register and my moms very first time coming here didn't know yogurt was weighed and having enough for only mine after my bill came up to $16 with the free 8oz which didn't seem right the lady waiting on us insisted we had to pay and my mom was never helped when she had questions and I had one of my co-workers there that witnessed everything while he was eating yogurt with his son. This place has had 3 occurences where I have been treated wrong and I have never had a owner or manager take up for a employee after such behavior was shown through her employee. I have heard so many instances of this happening here from so many other people and will not go back even though the yogurt has been great. I will take my business and friends/family I know elsewhere so we can be treated fairly while...
Read moreThis is a spectacular local business. You can tell the owner and employees take pride in the restaurant. All of the toppings, Froyo dispensers, and serving utensils were very well organized, labeled, and clean. (I especially liked the idea for the cereal dispenser for the small candies).
I had never had hot cobbler with Froyo and I look forward to going back to getting it again and again. And having checkers on the tables is fun and quirky.
I highly recommend this local Froyo place over the national chain that is a few miles down the road.
Update June 2023: Went back and had cobbler with Froyo, it was spectacular! Still very impressed by the selection...
