I liked the menu options here. Food was close to authentic but Graham isn't the best for finding ingredients. I arrived around 430pm on a weekday. The parking lot was a bit of a problem because the Food Lion was receiving from an 18 wheeler in the front parking lot. This screwed up traffic and that got worse closer to 5pm as the traffic light backs up cars. So trying to park became a chore. We were seated right away and there were 4 other tables. Service started off fine, but over the next hour, about 10 other tables were sat. We ordered and our food arrived in good time brought out by a runner. There were 3 runners wearing red and one server wearing purple. To start, the runners were hanging out at the front of the dining room. By the time we left, they were everywhere, but could only do so much. The only server was busy taking orders. That's all she could do. She wrote all the orders on the typical green guest check pads. I didn't hear anything being called out in the kitchen. So I assumed that there was a POS system somewhere that orders were being rung into. Our server never revisited us after our order was placed. There were no refills or any offer of boxes until we waited for the check for 38 minutes after we finished eating. The server came over and asked if there was a problem. I asked for the check. She told me that I was supposed to go to the front register for the check. We went up she met us there, called out our order from the guest check pad and rung up stuff. I never saw a check. Before walking out I went to the east side of the restaurant to see the bar. I found 2 people in there that appeared to be trying to figure out either how to get service or serve themselves. There did appear to be a POS system at the bar. Alcohol service picked up as we were there and most of it was brought out by the runners without the server present. Every restaurant has days were someone doesn't show up for their shift. If that's what happened here, it doesn't explain whatever the system is associated with service here. There were so many food and alcohol cost issues going on here. I'm talking about theft and miscommunication between runners and the server. These runners could easily pick up tables but that didn't seem to be allowed. I'm shocked. This place looks like it's been here for a while. With this type of service it won't be able to survive. Our food was ok. Wings were tasty. Tacos are served basically al la cart and not a feature. So just tacos on a plate without sauce or rice or something. My enchiladas were ok. The beans that came with them were great. The place has some great looking food and potential but there is so little management control to the point where I'd be worried so much product is walking out the back door, the restaurant won't be able...

Standard "American-style" Mexican restaurant menu. Much like American-style Chinese restaurant menus, if you've seen one, you've seen them all. They do sell auténtico stuff like menudo and al pastor, it's just buried in the back of the menu behind 4 pages of wheat-flour tortillas, ground beef, refried beans, nacho cheese sauce and shredded iceberg lettuce (all served in huge portions), i.e - "the gringo menu". You can expect to pay more for the authentic stuff, but they will happily serve it to you.

Place is close to where I live, so I've been eating here a lot. The free homemade chips and bangin' hot salsa roja is probably the best part of the whole meal. Service is extremely fast, prices are great if you order the specials... nothing fancy but a solid place to grab a meal if you're craving Mexican.

UPDATE: Two months after posting my initial review, I'm sorry to say I have to remove a star, as it appears Guerrero has been slipping in the past couple of months.

  1. Twice in the past month I've tried to call-in an order and had the line ring dozens of times until I gave up and ordered pizza instead. With the carry-out volume this place does, there's no excuse to not have somebody watching the phone.

  2. The manager/owner is a really pleasant, helpful, accommodating guy, but his waitresses are not very good and seem to have a high turnover rate. I've seen 6 different waitresses working in two months, and only one has been there consistently from the beginning. Several times they've forgotten drinks, straws, silverware, etc. or said certain specials weren't available anymore (when they actually were). Once each I was overcharged and undercharged. They tend to either hover over you if business is slow, or let your drink run dry if the place is busy. None of these problems were major or insulting, and the manager quickly resolved the few issues I had, but inconsistency of service seems to be a fairly common issue now.

  3. Twice in the last week I've gotten digestive issues from eating my usual meal at Guerrero. If this had happened right from the get-go, I'd blame my gringo digestive system, but this was after around a dozen meals over the last 2 months. Food was tasty and plentiful, as always, but twice in one week = something bad in the kitchen = gonna have to take a break for awhile and see if things improve...

The phone number listed on google goes straight to voice mail and the voicemail robot message does not say who the phone number belongs to. So, you cannot place an order on the phone.

I used to love going here with my mom all the time. When they first opened up the service seemed so much better. They were attentive and we were usually greeted right away at the door. The owner/cook used to come out and check and see how we liked the food. However, there has been a great decline over the years. Today we went in and the girl at the front, although she seemed busy calculating numbers, she failed to even address our presence. All the while there were at least two servers walking back and forth, not even acknowledging us. After a few minutes, one of those servers sat us fown and took our drink order. However, we proceeded to sit for another 10-15 minutes after we were ready to order. The two servers continued to walk back and forth past our table. The one boy stopped and looked at us one time and appeared to ask us if we're ready to order, to which we said yes, and then he walked away really fast. We then see the two servers prop their backs up against the glass walls at the front. Instead of making a scene and telling them we're ready to order, I just left $3 down on the table to pay for my tea and I left. Too many times I've seen service like that at Guerrero's. I really like the prices there, but I think I'm just going to start paying more and go to La Fiesta's. El Carbonaro's is another great place that is affordable. So I'll probably just start going to either of those two...

I much rather leave a 5 star review but here I just couldn’t. We were seated quickly at a booth in the back of the restaurant that felt like a dungeon. It was dark and not very appealing with several chairs stacked next to the table. After being seated we waited a while before being able to order. I was tempted to leave. I went to the restroom to wash my hands. Extremely cold water. The floor had paper towels across the floor. While I was in the restroom, my fiancé ordered a margarita. We were nearly finished eating before it arrived at the table. I ordered a lunch combo burrito, taco, and beans. The beef on the taco and burrito were flavorless. The beans were filled with cheese. I love Mexican food, but this restaurant left much to be desired. With the food and service I probably would not return.

It was good however I have 2 issues. First if you advertise authentic Mexican food you must offer 2 things mole sauce and Tomales in some form or fashion. Neither of these items were anywhere on the menu and when I asked they said they did not offer any authentic mole sauces. The food was good and the service was excellent but I have a real issue when a restaurant claims to be authentic but don't offer the 2 main menu items any authentic mexican restaurant would have. It was an americanized dining experience.
