Waste of a day off. Drove 35 minutes and paid $16 dollars to park (where the workers greeted our dog as we paid) and then hiked all the way down the beach only to find the dog area we had visited just last year is gone and a cop on a four wheeler handing out tickets the moment a dog touches the sand. We didn't see their tiny signs driving in and would have expected someone would say something or have a sign up before taking our money. On the other side, we noticed many boats, canoes, and people enjoying sightseeing, which added to the lively atmosphere.
However, one concern we had was the number of bicycles on the pier. With so many people walking, it felt a bit unsafe at times. We believe that to protect the health and well-being of those enjoying a peaceful walk, bike riding on the lighthouse pier should be restricted.
We encourage the Grand Haven Park authority to consider banning bike riding on the pier to ensure a safer experience...
