Tri-Cities Family YMCA — Local services in Grand Haven

Update to original post. I have been a Tri- cities YMCA since 1983. Yes I would recommend the Y to anyone. The types of classes they offer along with the great instructors will fill anyones needs and capabilities. Renee, Misty, Hilda and all the rest of the staff do an excellent job with the classes and explain to and assure that you are doing it correctly. Pleasant and professional. The pool is a great place to swim and get your cardio workout done. Lifeguards are always keeping a close eye on you. Hilda is excellent at the yoga instructor and I can’t wait until her next class. It is like an hour of physical therapy. She explains every move and is willing to help out after class with physical issues. Amazing Amanda does yoga and other class instruction and love her too but schedules don’t match as well. The rest of the staff is just as good from the front desk staff to the lifeguards. Beautiful location, beautiful facilities. I'm a personal trainer at the YMCA in downtown Denver, CO and was recently visiting Grand Haven. I spent some time at this Y location and was pleasantly surprised by the affluence of the facility given the smaller size of the Grand Haven community. The front desk attendant was abundantly helpful and the facilities were high calibre offering an array of up-to-date equipment including a whole half rack squat/deadlift area which could accommodate upwards of 6 lifters simultaneously. While some may see a smaller weightroom and turn up their nose any lifter worth their salt sees a playground in this facility. Absolutely gem of the Grand Haven community. We've been a member at this location for a little over a year now. Our 3 kids are always doing one of the many programs. It feels like an older location, but it has a good variety of activities for everyone. The staff is what truly makes this location so great. Im at this location at least 5 days of the week, 2-3 of the nights are with my kids for their programs. The staff is so good with the kids and getting know everyone. After being there for a year, we feel like we have become part of the great community that makes up this location in Downtown Grand Haven. Home of a great 5k to start the summer as well. 2 thumbs...
