Spend the day having a great time at Escanaba Park and nearby attractions. Read up on the coast guard history. Enjoy pronto pups, ice cream, or the local Butchs Beach Burritos. I was lucky when I pulled up as a car was leaving, or I would have had to park across the street or down near the beach as there are only 10 parking spots. Enjoy a mile walk along the waters edge to the red lighthouse and relax at the beautiful and sandy beach. I recommend walking the dune behind Butchs and setting up a hammock to see a great view. You can walk further into the woods along the right side and climb another dune to have full vision of the river, escanaba park, and view the farther away dunes at Hoffman state park. Great place to observe the fireworks which are launched from the Musical Fountain area. Most people watch from the Lynne Sherwood Waterfront Stadium area, which is probably better, but crammed with people. Escanaba park was a lot more low key and had an amazing view of more than the fireworks while waiting. You can see the light houses from Escanaba Park.
