Good afternoon, It displeases me to have to write this but I am writing to share my disappointing shopping experience I had today at the Michael's in Grand Prairie, Tx. I walked in approximately 3pm and was looking for a "Uncut Black Matboard" for a final school project in one of my college classes. I walked around the entire store looking for the product but could not find it. After searching on my own I walked the entire store again looking for assistance to find the item. I did not find any employee to help me find my item. To which I then walked towards the frame department because that is where I have found the item in the past. I continued my search and stumbled upon where I thought I found the item in another area of the store and walked towards it. Mind you this area had no sign of restricted access or employee access only and was wide open with no doors or chain blocking the area. Making it seem like another section of the store. I walked into this area thinking I found my item and grabbed the item when someone behind me says "Can I help you?," already in a not so kind way. I proceeded by saying "oh I was looking for this item and tried to find some help but could not find anyone," in which he then responded "you are not supposed to be here," and I said oh I'm sorry I did not know I was just looking for an item" and he responded again with "you're still not supposed to be here." And I responded with saying "I'm sorry i did not know, could you help me?" And he responded again with "you're not supposed to be in this area". I then proceeded by saying "I'm sorry" and left the store immediately. I left the store nearly in tears for how unkind he was to me. I simply mistakenly walked into an area that was not closed off and looked like apart of the store and apologized for it and the employee still did not want to help. His tone was condescending and rude from the start, while I was kind the whole time and apologized for my mistake. He was unwilling to help and sat there on his phone the whole time. I have worked in customer service before and I have never treated any customer the way he treated me today. He was unkind in every way and made me feel very disrespected. I do not know if because I looked young he assumed I was doing it intentionally or trying to do harm but that gives him no right to treat a customer that way. Read moreIt can be a bit overpriced, but msot of the shirts are a fair price. Some could cost a bit less than they do now, but it's overall a good experience. Most of the shelves are stocked. I say most because some areas are empty. I also noticed that they do not carry pants for crafts, so maybe they could expand their clothing to include sweats as well? They need more watercolor brush pen options. They also need to lower the price in the canvases. They could use more items and variety in their clearance section, as well as some more organization over there. They have a lot of options, and almsot anything for any craft. They'll likely have something that you need or want. I'd suggest more varieties on buttons and pillow stuffing as well. I'd also say to invest in soemthing related to wood carving. I know this review has many suggestions, but overall the store is wonderful. The staff is amazing. I haven't had a rude staff member as of yet. I even had one staff member use their own rewards from the michaels app to help pay for my little brother's items. I love this store. Read moreIf I could give this place 0 stars, I absolutely would. The only redeeming quality of my experience was the staff at the front, who were incredibly helpful and polite. They greeted me with a smile and seemed genuinely happy to assist. However, things took a dramatic turn as soon as I reached the ribbon-cutting area. There was an African-American lady with glasses who, from the vibe I got, might have been the manager. I had to make a point of staying polite and calm, but it felt like I was being chased out. It left such a bad taste in my mouth that I seriously have no desire to come back. I would suggest that the management take a long hard look at how they treat their customers because that kind of behavior is completely unacceptable in any setting.
