I recently moved to the area from Las Colinas. I usually just drive to my regular salon in Las Colinas but I was short on time today and decided to try somewhere nearby. Boy did I regret that decision.
I always get dip on my real nails (no tips), my nails are already shaped (oval), and they are a medium-short length. I brought in an inspo picture, which required three chrome nails on each hand and two nails with very simple dot flowers on each hand. Total price: $115!!!!! Excuse me! I was utterly baffled.
The dip full set was around $40ish, which I’m not complaining about since that is pretty average. Of course they added the nonsense $5-$10 charges for removal and shaping. Again, not really taking issue with these charges because many salons charge these fees but I am a little annoyed they charged me for “shaping” when my nails were already shaped how I wanted them. But whatever, not the end of the world, right? Well, here is where it gets wild!
First, they tried to charge me $40 alone just for the chrome! As in, 40 extra dollars just to rub that little chrome eyeshadow pallet looking-thing on 6 of my nails! Then they wanted to charge me $18 for the design. 18 extra freakin’ dollars for a super simple design that only required making a few little dotted flowers on 4 fingers. No charms, jewels, or gold leaf materials were needed. The design didn’t require the tech to do any time consuming french, marbling, or detailed art. Literally, I asked for the most basic design that probably ever existed, that would have taken 5 minutes tops to complete on all four fingers.
Bottom line: I’ve been getting my nails done for over a decade and I understand that the service can get pricey depending on what you are asking for. However, there is no world in which these upcharge prices make sense for what I requested. I’m really not one to nitpick prices but this place is a literal scam.
Thankfully, they informed me pretty early in the service about their intentions to rip me off. So I allowed them to finish removing my old set (I paid for the removal of course) and then went to a different salon right around the corner and showed them the exact same inspo picture. Not only did the nearby salon do a phenomenal job on my nails but the total cost for it all (full set dip, chrome, design) was $85.
Moral of the story: Companies like Xscape Nailbar, that have outrageous upcharge fees which basically equate to double the industry upcharge standard, don’t deserve your business. I would NOT RECOMMEND Xscape Nailbar unless you like...
Read moreFirst and foremost, in their defense, don’t be like me if you hate your nails! SPEAK UP!! Anyway, I visited this nail salon because i’m new in this specific area and it’s the only one that really came up on tiktok. I went on a monday morning so there was literally no one there and only one person came in during my 2 hour visit.
I needed an acrylic full set and gel pedicure. Keep in mind, there was literally NO ONE there, so I was confused why they felt the need to do my hands and feet simultaneously. I feel like if you don’t have the proper tools to make doing my nails while i’m in the pedicure chair, comfortable, then you should wait. ESPECIALLY if you’re not busy. She used the pillow, meant for my back, as the prop up for my hands. I wanted almond shape, I got more stiletto. And its noticeable which hand was closer to her, based on the edge shaping. I asked for a longer length, which she made sure to tell me would be an additional $5, only for her to file them down to short/medium. It’s been 2 weeks and it looks like i’ve had the nails for a month. The gel polish application is horrendous. It’s uneven and lumpy, and she didn’t bother to clean the cuticle area after she was done.
The guy with the gold cuban bracelet did the pedicure. He was rough. Like aggressively rough, nothing about the massage portion was enjoyable. He was also insensitive to my personal situations. If he were a medical professional, they’d call it bad bedside manner. There is a way to connect with your clients without crossing lines that shouldn’t have even been a topic of discussion. He also did not do a good job on the polish application, specifically the cuticle cleanup.
I ended up spending $130 with tip and one of the acrylic toenails has already popped off. I wouldn’t suggest this place if it was the only option in dfw. I have had equally bad experiences in nail salons, but this place is just totally not worth the...
Read moreI had a really disappointing experience at this nail salon. First, the upcharges are outrageous.. I ended up spending $160 total, which included their cheapest pedicure. I specifically asked for short cat eye dip nails, and they charged me $40 just for the cat eye design, which doesn’t even look right. To make it worse, one of my nails already broke within a week, and with how short they are, that shouldn’t be happening. I looked up and investigated pricing at other nail salons in the area, and they are only charging $9-$15 for cat eye designs, a huge difference from the $40 I was charged here.
Another big issue was that two different people worked on my nails, and each one added their own extra charges, which felt really shady. When I left, I noticed my nails were weirdly shaped and uneven.
The chairs were also extremely uncomfortable..no massage function and no way to adjust them forward or back, making the whole experience unpleasant. The salon was COMPLETELY empty when I arrived, and I honestly feel like they took advantage of the fact that I was the only customer by piling on unnecessary upcharges.
On top of all that, the vibe was just really off, something about the whole experience felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. The girl and the guy who did my nails were friendly, but unfortunately, that doesn’t make up for the poor quality and ridiculous pricing. I genuinely feel like I got scammed.
I was in a hurry and they were the only ones available at the time, but now I regret not going somewhere else. At least my gel pedicure is holding up, but they are definitely not good at doing nails.
I won’t be going to a nail salon anymore when there are literally 0 customers, and I definitely won’t be recommending this place to anyone. Save your money and go...
