Update to original message: Thank you, Shonda, for the quick response both verbally to the post as well as quickly responding with operational changes (website updates, available carts for self drop off donations while it is unattended) to accommodate those wanting to help out. Certainly no one wants your staff and volunteers to work in oppressive outside conditions. But no one wants to waste their time with unsuccessful donations attempts either. Great plan! I will try again within the next day or two.
Original message: I tried to make a donation to the drop off center this afternoon. Closed. I then went to the resale shop to try and give it to them, they turned me away. I had house decorative items (vase, knick knack, framed pictured, lamp, etc.), perfect for the resale shop. The woman told me to go back to the donation center. I explained they are turning folks away. There is nothing on the website about summer hours. In fact it says open until 5pm. When I explained to woman at the resale store sending me away that I was just trying to help and do a good thing. She actually got irritated with me telling me how hot it was. Like that is my fault. I asked if that is what we were supposed to do and he said he drove all the way from Carrollton to donate specifically to Grace but was told by someone inside to come back tomorrow at 830am. He said do you know how many places I passed on the way here that I could have donated to instead. I understand it is hot. But please communicate to us so we don't waste time and effort only to be turned away. We're...
Read moreOn more than one occasion I have tried to donate household items here during posted business hours (M-Sat 8:30-5) and the place is locked up and no one there. If the hours have changed, it would be quite beneficial to those of us who choose to donate locally to know that! Otherwise, GRACE is wasting my time and I will find somewhere else to donate. Additionally, I called the posted number and got a fax tone. It's really hard to support this cause when the organization is it's...
Read moreThis is one of the best donation stations for used items in North Texas. All the staff and volunteers are polite and friendly and the drop-off area is very efficient. Just drive up, and open your truck or car doors. The staff will take everything out for you. No need to leave your car seat. Grace does a lot of good deeds in the area so trust your no longer used items are going to support a wonderful...
