I worked there for a minute and I might be the first to state on here that my experience was not a terrible one. The management had their favorites and treated workers unfairly but luckily I was one of their favorites so fortunately I didn't get harassed as much as other workers there.
When I had just started this kid that was there a really long time before me was training me to take tickets (lol). We had a new policy where we had to look inside all women's bags and purses for weapons or outside food or drink (its theft of services as theaters only make their money on concessions, many don't know this). The kid training me forgot to ask to look inside one woman's bag as the manager walked by. She wrote him up on the spot and so it scared me to not ask after that.
One time when I asked a lady she threw a fit and called the cops because she stated what we were doing was an invasion of privacy and illegal. So the police showed up and the officer told her we had the right to do that so she got her ticket refunded and left because she refused to let her bag get checked, I felt extremely bad. It is stressful and creating confrontation with patrons that are not part of the job description, should be for a hired security guard (which they don't have of course).
I like collecting movie tickets but the Carmike 10 prints out their tickets on pieces of receipt paper that just gets ripped in half on an ink dotted line by the ticket taker (if that doesn't tell you how cheap they are, nothing will). They used to have actual tickets.
All that said, the workers are always friendly. And all those telling us haters to just not go... thats what I do. I don't go. The only reason I know it still sucks is every once in awhile a damn good movie comes out I can't resist, but my choice comes down to see it now or wait. For me, its worth it to see it now and sit in a broken chair with AC cranked too high, feet either sticking to floor with every step or stepping on something crunchy, than to wait another few months without seeing it.
When Star Wars comes out I may request work off and drive to Billings or Missoula JUST so I don't have to see it here.
Also (I mentioned I worked there) the management has nice little clicky parties where they invite all their family and friends to a movie and fill up garbage bags of popcorn (literally) and help themselves to infinite soda. (Only we had to have our own cup because inventory is tracked for soda sales by the amount of cups sold, I can't even imagine how off their numbers are from all the cups that break or any other error with that way of tracking). Any other management would track their sales by the amount of syrup cases used, but thats with management that isn't stealing from the people of Great Falls' pocket's. And anyone that's worked in food retail knows that the amount of syrup, ice, and carbonated water that goes into each beverage does not cost the retailer more than $0.25. Thats less than a quarter dollar for a drink that they are charging you an upwards of $10.00 for...
They are stealing from you so they can have all the free popcorn and soda they want for their family and friends. This reason alone should get the better business bureau to at least investigate these criminals.
If someone were to open another theater they would put this one out. They can get away with what they get away with because they have the supply for Great Fall's only demand and they know it. They can treat people badly and get away with it, no one cares enough.
Also my car widows were broken and vehicle broken into in their parking lot while I was attending a movie. The police showed up but couldn't do anything because they have no working cameras and their parking lot is "private" (whatever that means).
I could say negative things all day to add to this review, there isn't enough words in the english language to describe how truly awful this movie theater is. Everything I've stated is the whole truth.
PLEASE SOMEONE OPEN A BETTER THEATER!!!!!!!! As my grandfather would say, "this place...
Read moreThis is the poorest run theater I have ever been to. It is badly designed and laid out, poorly managed, and overpriced.
Let's start with the ticket buying area: there is no place for a line to form, if you get more than 10 people in line, a large morass forms and then you get a big crowd standing outdoors. I have never seen more than two employees selling tickets at the same time.
There are no kiosks for buying or printing online tickets, before you could use tickets on your phone, you would have to stand in line even if you pre-purchased.
They have a large concession area with registers on both sides of the lobby, but I have never seen the left side in use. Last Christmas, when Star Wars was out, there was a line of over 100 people waiting for tickets and as many in the lobby for concessions, and only 4 of the eight registers were open. I don't think they have ever been used.
They only have matinees on Tuesdays. They are the only theater for 100 miles in any direction, but if you want to watch a movie before 4:30pm, you are out of luck if it isn't Tuesday.
If there is more than one busy movie starting around the same time, the lobby will be a mess. There is only one line for the ticket taker, they don't queue up lines by movie or showtime, so if you are seeing something at 7:15 and there is another show at 7:20, both lines will stand there not moving until someone figures out they should be waiting off to the side.
I have worked at several theaters in my younger days and I have been a frequent moviegoer for two decades. In five minutes I could have this theater running better than it is now, but why should they care, its not like we are driving to Helena to see movies. Someone, anyone build a better theater and I will come every week just to spite the incompetent management at...
Read moreMy niece and I recently attended a matinee showing at 10:20 AM, her first time experiencing a movie theater. Unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired and was far from what I had hoped for. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this theater does not prioritize cleanliness or customer experience. Gross garbage greeted us on the sidewalk directly in front of the entrance, setting the tone for the rest of our visit. The lobby was run down and dirty, with slippery floors and corners covered in dusty patches. The bathrooms were filthyâmirrors were gross, and the toilets and urinals were unclean. The popcorn machine was either not working or not turned on, and the employee behind the counter seemed entirely unconcerned about the issue of people visiting a theater with no popcorn. There were four garbage cans right in front of the theater entrance, to remind us all that they will not be cleaning the theater after we view our movie. It felt like cleanliness was not on their radar at all. Inside the theater itself, things were no better. Despite ours being the first showing of the day, the floors were dirty. The theater was freezing cold, seemingly because the heater wasnât turned on early enough to warm the space before customers arrivedâdespite it being a chilly day outside. All in all, this was a disappointing experience, especially for an $80 outing. Unfortunately, this is the only theater in town, and it seems theyâre fully aware of it. They operate as though customers have no other options, and it shows in their lack of care and attention to the basics. I truly wish there were alternatives nearby because this level of service is...
