I was excited to see Pet People open so close to my home. Upon entering for the first time, I quickly realized their price point is extremely high. After much thought and consideration, my husband and I decided to buy from Pet People, because it is a local small business and because they offered a Frequent Buyer's card. Buy 12 bags and get the 13th free (equal to the least expensive bag purchased). After purchasing 9 bags of overpriced TOTW, I went in to puchase a different brand of kibble more suited for our recent large breed rescue puppy--of which they had only one brand to offer me. I went to check out with 2 bags of food and my Frequent Buyers card, where the nice cashier informed me that you have to buy 12 bags of IDENTICAL food to get the 13th bag free. You cannot combine brands. Now, the staff at Pet People being as personable as they seem, know that I have 11 rescue animals; each of whom have varying dietary needs and restrictions. I was beyond saddened to learn after purchasing 9 bags of TOTW (sold elsewhere locally for $6+ cheaper per bag), I could not get my Frequent Buyer's card stamped for the $70 bag of food I was about to purchase! I expressed my dissatisfaction, which was met with a kind offer to start a new Frequent Buyers card with the new brand of kibble. Yeah, no thanks Pet People. The reason my husband and I justified purchasing from your wildly overpriced store in the first place was the ability to use that perk, seeing as we have 11 animals to feed. We were trying to support your local business, and were only met with disappointment. Why should it matter what brand we purchase? And why was I never informed of this stipulation? It doesn't clearly state that on the card. At the premium prices you charge, anyone willing to shop with you enough to fill a rewards card with 12 stamps (mine valued at $50+ per stamp) should be thanked with a bag of kibble of equal value! Sorry Pet People, but you've lost a loyal (and...
Read moreGiving this place 1 star only because there seems to be no other way to make someone care. We have been twice now. Both visits were for ADVERTISED pet adoption events. The first time we went there was no event. We asked and were told the rescue group had something come up and wouldnt be there. Ok no problem. We called two weeks later and the employee had no idea. Told us to look at the online callendar. We did. Another event advertised for today. October 13th. So we went. No event. Employee had no idea they had anything scheduled. Asked the manager. Told us they werent sure what happened. Scheduling conflict? So....you advertise...but do not post any changes. You dont keep employees trained or informed? Why? You dont want them to be informative to customers? Seems like false advertisement to bring in business. Very...
