TLDR: This place has lots of room for improvement.
The facility is cute and they have an assortment of quality products on their retail shelves (some photos included with review). The service quality did not match up though.
Aside from the pedicures with Robin, which were fantastic and she was great (5 stars), this place was completely disorganized and lacked quality especially compared to how the services are advertised.
From the moment we arrived it was a comedy of errors. The email they sent confirming our services didn’t at all reflect what actually was available to us when we arrived. We booked two services each for 4 people and only the pedicures turned out as booked. One entire person’s services were unavailable. They were as confused as we were and the entire fix required way too much of our energy to address. We ended up figuring something out, but it was far different than what we had booked and a stressful bumpy path to get there.
Getting to use the sauna and steam shower was my favorite part of the experience, even though both are kind of wonky set ups. The steam shower was amazing but it’s in the men’s changing room which is a bit weird, though there was no men there the day we went. There is a sauna in the women’s bathroom and even though it has a curtain to separate it from the rest of the space, hearing people use the toilet isn’t exactly a relaxing way to sit in a sauna.
The massage was less than mediocre, and it was more of an oily moisturizing with a side of massage. I asked for no fragrances and after she assured me there weren’t, there were fragrances. The masseuse’s nails are too long to be giving massages. The two of us that got massages noticed this. Though they didn’t hurt when scratching me, afterwards I noticed scratch marks (photo included with review). Between the complete disarray of the check in and the lack of listening or considering customer’s needs I felt more tense going into this massage than I did the morning before I went there.
If you’re looking for actual reflexology I’d recommend going somewhere else. Though advertised as reflexology this was just a foot massage.
What was meant to be a relaxing day at the spa was way more stress than should be for something like this.
Here’s how this could be better handled…
As soon as someone on their staff left, reassign services booked with them to another provider If you can’t rebook those services with another provider let the customer know BEFORE they show up day of those booked services If customers do show up and you totally messed up their booked services, well, just don’t mess up to the point of not having the booked services available. This is bad business. Overall improve the communication amongst staff, so that they’re less confused than the customers.
The staff was apologetic that this happened, and money was refunded, but wow, this place needs a makeover to be anywhere I’d recommend. I needed another spa day to relax...
Read moreI have been a patron here since before they moved to the current location, roughly 12 years. Each time I have visited since the move the quality of service I receive has dwindled. This last experience took the cake, and will be my moment of no return. My massage was at 1215, and while my masseuse walked by me mult times while I was seated in the waiting area I was only greeted by others until she grabbed me at 1218. Her nails need to be checked, they were too long I had slight marks after from her thumb nails on the sides of my neck. I had a fresh tattoo I asked her to avoid before I even undressed and she didn't even try a little. My panties and chest were exposed multiple times due to poor or lack of draping. She popped gum or something in her mouth for the first 5 minutes. And lastly that was the most aggressive traditional massage I have ever received. I could not relax, I can normally doze off but was so uncomfortable. My massage ended at 120. Used to recommend, but will not be anymore.
Update: Why would I call you when you undermined what I said? Idk if you have cameras but feel free to pull them to see how rude that woman was. Are you not tattoo friendly either? I have used gift cards at least 3x there and purchased a massage from you myself twice so your book keeping must lack too. I am very happy you couldn't book me for the $300 service I originally requested.
Sirona spa in st. Clair shoes are absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend Mary Beth, she took care of me yesterday after the horrible experience...
Read moreIf you want more than light pressure, go somewhere else. My mom, sister and I booked 60 minute Swedish massage for $110 and they added the Peppermint Foot Therapy for $20 to their massages. The inside is nice, it feels relaxing inside and smells good. The bathroom has a sauna, shower and they have a lot of products available for guests to use after their service which was a great touch. After the massage, they offer you water and coffee or tea and have some little biscuits available. My massage was very nice, she did a good job working on my shoulders and overall it was good but lacked a bit in pressure, one of the lightest massages I’ve ever gotten. My mom loved hers, and said it was the best she’s ever gotten and loved her peppermint add on. My sister by far, had the worst experience and paid the most. asked for more pressure and was offered to upgrade to a deep tissue. She said no, I just want a little more pressure, and the massage continued with light pressure so she finally said she’d like to upgrade. Her feet were not touched until the peppermint foot therapy where she just got some stiff put on her feet and was done. No massage in lower legs and very little foot massage. It was lackluster and over all said her massage was just ok. $145 for the total for her plus tip. I have gotten amazing massages for half that and they don’t up charge you if you want more than...
