This restaurant doesn't even deserve a full ★. It should have stayed closed. Recommended by a "friend". {Might need to rethink that relationship.} After purchasing two different dishes for tonight's dinner, I am absolutely appalled by all of the reviews from people saying this place has good food. {By the way, said friend owes me $20.41. This restaurant doesn't even throw a stinking fortune cookie, napkin, or plasticware in the bag for you. I asked for some and was given 1 fork and 1 knife, though I'd purchased two quarts of meat and fried rice} This is absolutely the worst Chinese food I've had. Who can mess up sweet and sour chicken? Apparently this place. Sauces were water and murky in color (by murky, I mean grayish on both the sweet and sour and orange chicken). The orange chicken was covered with walnuts. Good thing I don't have allergies. Chicken was dried out and flavorless, unless utterly yuck and disgusting count. I literally could not stomach two bites. Even the rice was horrible. You pay an extra $2+ for plain fried rice (no vegetables, meat, eggs... nothing. Just soy sauce and was still bland). Definitely not worth the upcharge. Don't waste your time or money going here. I took the "dinners" to work the following day. No, I wasn't trying to kill my coworkers, just realized that some people will eat anything and consider even the most mediocre (which this didn't even reach such status) food to be good. And since coworkers will eat someone else's food, that has that person's name on it, is in their zipped up, insulated lunch bag, with a "Do Not Touch " sign on attached, I figured someone would consume it, take it home, something. I just knew it didn't have to go where it came from but it had to get the hell out of my house. I take in food/snacks (unmarked) all the time and it gets eaten. I marked this "food" with big letters "Please feel free to help yourself". No one dared even try it. Go figure. That should tell...
Read moreMy Aunt who hadn't been here in a long time ordered close to $60 worth of food that I picked up yesterday. I thought we were ordering from a different Chinese restaurant once I arrived; and was totally dissapointed.
I wont talk about the lack of ambiance or updates inside. Very outdated and lackluster. The person who took my order over the phone was nice and the same upon arrival. It was 30 minutes to close so my Aunt blamed it on being the end of the day, but I would say its just not good food period.
Ordered 1 Spring Roll, Crab Rangoon, Veggie Lo Mein, Honey Chicken, Egg Foo Young, Shrimp Fried Rice & Szhechaun Shrimp. Everything was tasteless and not good at all. Except for the Crab Rangoon Appetizer. She didnt eat the Spring Roll so I cant say rather that was good or not but it looked appropriately made and crispy.
I will not go back. All the leftovers were thrown away. Everything appeared to be somewhat pre-made. Typically when I eat Egg Foo Young, you cut it open and the yellow fluffyness of the egg stands out. The Szhechaun Sauce and Veggies were not right. Veggies limp and flat. No crispness and the sauce tasted like it was out of a off brand jar. The Lo Meiin was flavorless and had no juice. It was dry as and unbelievably unsatisfying. I turned the container upside down to try and get something to spill out but it was dry as a bone.
Lastly the Honey Chicken seemed old. When you cut into it the color was off and it didnt taste anything like the kind Ive had before. It was not good at all. Total waste of money. I hate to do a 1 star review but they need a new cook back there who takes pride in the business. I will never go back to this restaurant. Sorry about the pics, I thought about it after we tossed it...
Read moreMy baby desired Chinese food for the entire week. So we visited a few places without ordering due to the undesirable look inside of the restaurants. I decided to try Grosse Pointe Woods, thinking they must be a clean establishment with high-quality foods. The lady that took my order was very pleasant and helpful. However, this place does not deserve more than a star. The vegetable fried rice was dry. The Chow Mein needed seasoning, and the mung beans looked gray. The white rice was hard, as though not fully cooked or left out with no lid to keep moisture in the pot. Now for the worst part, as if it could get worse. The Chicken Egg Foo Young was very dark with crunchy burnt edges and a chemical taste, and it was very tight and looked like hog head cheese inside. I did not see anything resembling chicken. Not even sure it was it is made with eggs, either. I must say the gravy was decent. Several people in here recommend Moy’s(?) I will go there or to Panda next time. BTW, you'd think a restaurant would give customers eating utensils and napkins, right? Not...
