The Clever Kobold — Attraction in Groton

Employees where really nice was looking to buy a war hammer army but than the owner came in and complained about how he was driving and listening to the cameras and thought I was just bothering employees, went across the street to lees toys and happily spent $450 much better selection and no rude owners. Left such a bad taste in my mouth to talk to customers that way I’ll never step foot in the store again.

Just wanted to reply to the comment that this was a couple weeks ago when I came in. I’m new and didn’t know what I was needing and had some questions and I was pulled aside from some shorter guy. Was my first time ever at a store like this and was very very unwelcoming.

Update, one year later and new ownership same level of poor service.

Update, was begged to come here for an event the other day and within 20 mins it was clear that they only cared about getting money from the community and not the players itself. Staff were beyond aggressive and simply didn’t seem happy to be there. After talking to the cashier it was clear they are frustrated with the amount of money these events bring but they receive 0 incentive to work harder on these days that being in a larger more energetic crowd...

What makes a great TCG Store? Friendly patrons? Gracious Owners? Great competition in your favorite game/format? Well if any of these things do it for you, then The Clever Kobold is the place to go. I have recently gotten into commander and as a competitive legacy player wanted to play CEDH games. I was alerted to this shop by a random facebook post I made saying that I wanted a store to play CEDH. A patron responded and suggested this store, and despite a far drive for me, I made the trip to check it out. Needless to say, I was not dissappointed. I played some amazing games and met some very nice folks. The owners were very helpful and great conversationalists. As I like talking to people, this was a very big plus. I am thusly dissapointed to be relegated to a 5 star review, as a higher rating is warranted here. I will be back as often as I can despite my long drive to get there. I will also be shouting the praises of The Clever Kobold from the rooftops in hopes of attracting more CEDH...

This place has been absolutely amazing to me ever since I started going there. The place is always clean and well maintain. Product is always easily recognizable, identifiable, and properly well stocked. Prices are always fair, both for buying and selling singles. The main reason I continue to come back though, is the staff. They are nothing but friendly and easy to approach. They do everything in their power to ensure that your experience is stellar.
