We just went out here today because we were told that it is the biggest flea market around and they have all kinds of stuff there. We live about and hour and a half drive away so we looked into it and from what we saw VIA videos and other pictures it seemed to be one heck of a flea market, WELL not so much, for starters when we pulled in we got stopped by some hillbilly jerk off with a bad attitude telling us we need to turn around and go the other way and park in the right area OF which was not marked what so ever. We get out to go walk around and we looked at each other like where the heck is everything. There was only one short row of booths open and a few outdoor vendors there, Really SAD, took us barly a half an hour to look around and what we did find was SO OVER PRICED that I would have been better to buy it new or go on Ebay, even the vendors there had a bad attitude about them. To add to that there was NO FARMERS MARKET AT ALL. Now I know people say oh you need to come on a Monday, One why the hell are you open on a Monday, people work on a Monday and the place closes hours before people even get off of work so that alone is Rather Stupid, two if Sunday is a New day that your now open and not Normaly open then This just goes to show the PISS POOR way this place is managed, they needed to get with all the vendors that have a booth and make suer that they would have enough people there to make it worth opening on a Sunday because again why the hell would you open on a MONDAY instead of Saturday and Sunday WHEN PEOPLE ARE NOT WORKING AND CAN MAKE THE DRIVE OUT THERE. So to sum it up in a nut shell unless you live in Webster ITS NOT WORTH THE DRIVE TIME OR ANYTHING, prices are FAR to high for a flea market, the people that were their were Rude, I didnt see one place open to get food or drink. I live only 30 minutes from the Oldsmar Flea Market and to be honest it is Far Better then this place. Monday might be far better then a Sunday but again its Rather Stupid to be open on a Monday When People work on Monday and dont get off work till about 4/5 pm on average and they close at 2pm you just cut out a MASSIVE amount of possibl foot traffic for the place. This seems to me that it is more for the locals than for people that like to travil around to places like this. Id have to safely say that I would be VERY hard pressed to go back hear agin even on a Monday, theres no Deals to be found with the few people that were their so I cant imagine it would be any different when it is full to max, NOT worth it the effort or time, VERY...
Read moreThe Webster Swap-O-Rama is historically known as just the Webster Flea Market. It is located adjacent to the Sumter County Farmers Market, often mistaken for being the same and vice versa, but they are not the same. The flea market and farmers market are both open every Monday. As you can imagine, they are very busy and full of vendors on Monday holidays when the 9 to 5 crowd are free. That's when I go, too, on the national holiday Mondays. The flea market has regular flea market vendors with antiques, collectibles, along with regular people getting rid of their household items. Regardless of whether you visit the flea market or the farmers market, you will be paying to park. Plan on wearing practical walking shoes. Scant areas are paved; the rest is dirt or grass, so closed toed shoes are a smart choice. I take a cart to tote my purchases around with because I rarely get to park close to the vendors. You can buy food and beverages throughout the flea market. Public restrooms (with flushing toilets) are located in two areas of the flea market. Some vendors are located in a covered area but most are out in the open, so sun protection is a good idea. I have been going to Webster flea market for about 15 years now so obviously I love it. If you still have money and energy when you finish at the flea market, you can cross the street to the farmers market. While they definitely have vendors selling produce and such, most of their vendors sell made in China stuff. Not like the treasures to be found at the...
Read moreHoliday Mondays in cooler months are the VERY BEST ways to go. Lots of CHEAP vintage goods. If you head over to the wholesale area please be kind to the sellers many do not speak english well. And Remember that they dont want to sell individual items. Just spend the extra few bucks and buy in bulk. The prices for a box or case are still usually cheaper than buying at the mall. Donate or give away the extras. I have a few favorite sellers (the lady that sells character purses, keychains, jewelry, hair bips and bops and yes she is pushy and stern but my daughter and I love her and enjoy buying from her even if we only understand each other part of the time. I will warn that food is sketchy here. Carnival food basically. Find the Mexican Street Corn. Yummy snack and good for walking around. Leave your dogs and electric scooters at home. I saw way too many accidents involving both. You dont want to be sitting in a scooter, run over someone and take all the meat off their heel and ankle and have them turn around and retaliate with them towering over you. On a positive note you will meet all kinds people at the Swap. Have fun and if someone doesnt want to haggle with you move on. Dont pay ebay prices just because dan the antique man saw that lil glass hippo on ebay listed for $300. That ebay hippo has been listed for the last year and still didnt sell. Happy...
