I spent Sunday evening Feb. 20, 2022 at the Great American Melodrama located in Oceano CA. I was accompanied by a very delightful and absolutely eye catching friend of mine. We were both at the Melodrama to enjoy their live performance of the currently running play titled "Muskie Love"... This was the second time we both attended to watch this particular performance. In the past I certainly have not been known as the kind of guy who most folks would expect to see on any given weekend evening at a live dramatic performance rather than at a drinking establishment or at home watching sports or a movie. Let me just tell everybody reading this post. Those days are quickly moving over to the wayside! Thanks to Everybody who has a hand in what goes on over there at the Great American Melodrama in Oceano, CA. Although in my humble opinion. A more suitable name would easily be: The Best Kept Secret of California's Central Coast!!! And I'm telling you that would still be a less than accurate understatement in regard to the dedicated, hard working, conscientious, folks who are on the melodrama's fantastic team. I must make a special noteworthy point here. *The Team by the way. Is tiny in number. In total, I would say a very close estimate is one dozen phenomenal people. Each person is Remarkably Dedicated! Each person is a Remarkable Artist! Each Person is a Master to their craft! I am hard-pressed to imagine anybody attending any performance going home and feeling less than exilerated as they leave the parking lot for home! Please also note that the facility is handicap accessable, there are 2 intermissions. They serve a wide variety of food snacks and beverages both nonalcoholic and alcoholic. Every seat in the house is comfortable and has a good view. Each show consists of a main feature and a vaudeville act. All prices for seats and snacks are very reasonable! Parking is free. Tickets/E-Tickets can be purchased in advance online. Audience participation is always welcome. There are options to purchase single performance tickets, season tickets and other ticket packages as well... To everybody reading this post. Please go see a performance at least one time. You will only be cheating yourself if you don't. I have really enjoyed myself both times I went! Now I proudly am a season ticket owner and will remain so for many years to come... Go to their web page and have a look for...

Read moreMy first time!! My first impression, walking in, was that the place is TINY. The venue consists of a main floor, pretty much crammed with small tables with four chairs each, all pointed toward the stage. Around this floor area is three raised tier seats, which are cushioned benches. All seats are numbered and reserved. We sat one set of tables back from the stage, a little to stage left (audience right) and our visibility was very good. But WOW, the personalities of the cast! The main master of ceremonies, especially, has great personality, humor, and energy, and talent as well. The show we saw was "Sand in our Shorts" which, as you can guess, was all stories about going to the beach. It was very family friendly, but not overly-much for children, as you had to be a thinking person to "get" a lot of the puns, but I loved the dialogue. It is the old-fashioned, very creative, imaginative, and exuberant type of vaudeville. Alas, there is nothing else like it. During intermission, you can line up in the lobby, where you will again see members of the cast, efficiently taking your order on an iPad and sending you into the kitchen, set up like a cafeteria where, again, the cast are the ones serving things up. BE SURE and tip these wonderful and VERY hard-working people, and you'll be rewarded with a song. And tip when you leave the theatre, as well. As hard as these actors work, they will do it all again in just a few hours. PLEASE, reward and encourage creative theater in...
